Overview
The YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association) hostel is popular with young travelers and backpackers. Officially opened in February 1911, the old YMCA building was used as the Kempeitai (Japanese secret police) headquarters during World War II. In the early 1980s, the premises was rebuilt and the new YMCA building was consecrated in 1984.
