We spend 5 days in Sydney and this hotel was reasonably well located. To be near Chinatown is good for eat.Broadway St is good for transportation to the main attractions in Sydney.
The staff at the Vulcan was very friendly to give directions and tips.
If we will come back to Sydney we will stay again at the Vulcan

This is a small boutique hotel with recently refurbished rooms. The rooms are rather small, but you are not in Sydney to sleep!! There is a wonderful little cafe attached to it with excellent coffee and breakfast. The hotel staff are wonderfully courteous and helpful.

The location is not far from Darling Harbour and is perfect location for launching a walking tour of the city.

The hotel location was perfect for me -- close to Sydney CBD, Central train station, Darling Harbour, Chinatown, and Sydney University.
I didn't have time to try food or anything else -- just an overnight, arriving in the evening and leaving early next morning.
One suggestion: Since there is no night-time staff, it would be a great help to automate wake-up calls. When I came back from my evening out, and realized that I could get wake-up service only by speaking to the front desk, it was too late.

Everything was as we would wish except for the fact that our room was directly above the cafe with heavy music playing until very late even after three requests to turn it down.It was eventually turned off.I would stay there again but request a different room.

Although the room was small this hotel made up for it in other ways. Our daughter emailed them to have flowers delivered on my birthday whilst we were there and a beautiful bouquet was in the room when we returned from our day out. The location is ok, its an easy walk to Darling Harbour and not far to central station.

The Vulcan Hotel fully met our expectations. It was within comfortable walking distance of the railway station and other public transport options, as well as tourist attractions such as Chinatown.

The hotel was very clean and had recently been modernised (possibly in slightly too minimalistic style!).

Our bedroom looked out onto a busy road and pavement, so it was a bit noisy and we had to keep the blinds closed at night for privacy.

Overall, it was very comfortable and provided a good base from which to explore Sydney.

We had a very pleasant experience with the Vulcan. The staff was very friendly, and the room was clean and inviting. They have wireless internet available, however the DVD player in our room did not work. Darling harbour is only a 10 minute walk, and we enjoyed our stay and are coming back next weekend!

As a single woman traveller I found this hotel excellent on all counts. The room was comfortable and clean. The facilities good and the staff were at all times friendly and helpful. The location was good and handy for the ciy centre. I would highly recommend this hotel

We were very pleasantly surprised at the good value for money. Staff were friendly and knowledgable. Very close to Darling Harbour and Chinatown.

I travel to Sydney for Business on a regular basis. When away from home I need a comfortable, friendly, convenient place to stay, The Vulcan meets all the criteria. The girls on reception are exceptionally nice and helpfull, it is greatly appreciated. I will definately be staying again.

We were in Sydney for the International Beauty Expo and a few extra days shopping. We found the staff helpful and friendly. The room was fab!! Really spacious and beautifully decorated. Nice to be able to just walk up a couple ofr flights of stairs, no high rise. And great to be able to open the door and actually get some fresh air! Something I miss in the bigger hotels these days! Really nice little walk to Darling Harbour, just enough to walk off dinner, lol! Restaurant was a little disappointing, maybe we struck a bad night, but plenty of restaurants close by.

Great Value, very centrally located to Sydney Excellent staff

It was a lovely room, we especially like how quiet it was.

Car parking arrangements were extremely inconvenient. Location was 100+ metres from hotel and required pass key which had to be obtained from reception and returned immediately for both entry and exit. This was a very comfortable and well decorated room but rather small, with little storage or space for open cases. I would not rate it as a "Premium" room.

I chose the Vulcan from a web search of Sydney based upon price range and location to the Central Business District and transporation. A couple of the guest evaluations like this one were helpful in making the decision. I found my room very comfortable and nicely designed and equipped from furnishings to decor to a/c to the very large private bath/shower/toilet room. The room was very private and quiet.

Two in a room, but left only one towel. AC-Heat did not work well.
