And of course, Toronto is one of the best towns for tourist shopping. The Yonge Street is the most prominent shopping area in Toronto with the street running nearly two kilometres, making it the longest street in the world. There's nothing you can't find here, from locally produced handcrafts up to exclusive boutiques, no to mention rows of restaurants and art galleries.
The Art Gallery of Ontario in Dundas Street is a noteworthy place to visit as it has great collection of Canadian paintings, and also the world's largest Henry Moore sculpture collection. Highlight of the gallery is the painting Massacre of the Innocent by Peter Paul Rubens. Painted around 1611 to 1612, its one of the most expensive paintings in the world which fetched a whopping CAD117 million in 2002.
Spadina House is a mansion built in 1860, now converted to a museum and operated by City of Toronto Culture Division. A historic mansion, the museum has preserved much of its interiors that have a composition of Victorian, Edwardian, Art Deco and Colonial Revival styles. The compound has a beautiful garden where you can walk around but you'll have to pay an entrance fee if you want to explore the interior of the museum.
