Pictures of framed photos of hats abound in this hotel formerly a hat factory! Accommodation was comfy and suitable for business trip. Staff service was excellent -friendly and very helpful. Going into pub part for breakfast seemed a bit strange but food and service were good with choice of different selection of breakfasts, did not try evening meal.

We were pleased with the general standard of the hotel and, had it not been for the breakfast "fiasco" we would have scored it higher. When we got down to the breakfast room there were several people already queing with no staff around to see them in. There was no orange juice and much of the other "serve yourself" items, were in very short or no supply. The tables that had already been used were still cluttered with dirty plates etc. There seemed to be only one person serving the whole dining room and, although he was doing his best, he was running around like a headless chicken trying to do a dozen things at the same time. (Not his fault). My wife went to reception to try to get something done and the receptionist came over and lent a hand, (assumingly leaving the desk unattended). It took about 20 minutes to get served with coffee and longer for the breakfast to arrive. To be honest, it was pretty awful and completely took the edge off what would have been a pleasant stay. We would stay there again but only if we were assured that this problem had been permanently sorted.
Staff generally very pleasant and helpful although we did have one rather miserable and uncommunicative waitress for breakfast who could not even manage a 'good morning'! Mattresses were a little poor and felt in need of replacing.
Really pleased with the accmodation and staff
