Ubud is derived from Ubad, means medicine. Legend has it that a disease outbreak claimed many lives in the village. Nobody managed the situation until a Hindu priest meditated on a river and found out that leaves of a nearby tree was the solution to the catastrophe. Since then the site where the priest meditated was known as Ubad, or Ubud in its later development.

Tegal Sari is situated away from Ubud main streets but close enough to reach Ubud Market. The famous art market and Ubud Monkey Forest (accessible within distance through rice paddies) are close from the hotel.

The Tegal Sari is near enough Ubud art markets to easily walk (along rice paddy footpaths if you wish), far enough away to escape any notion of town life. The hotel is 40 kilometre from Ngurah Rai Airport.
