Tanjung Pinang is the main town on the island of Bintan, and the capital of Riau Islands province. It covers area of 239,50 km square.

Just off the coast of Tanjung Pinang, Penyengat Island is a historic center of Malay culture. Visitors can look forward to many interesting heritage sites, villages, old Dutch fort, royal mausoleums and old palaces. Do not miss the popular Masjid Raya Sultan Mosque, historically erected in 1832 by King Abdulrahman.

Dragon Boat Festival is the most look forward event, held every October along the Tanjung Pinang coast facing Penyengat Island. It features cultural performances, swimming competition and traditional diving challenges.

The Sri Bintan Pura ferry terminal at Tanjung Pinang at the southern end of Jalan Merdeka is the main passenger port of Bintan and is used by all domestic and international services from the city. It is a visa-free for most ASEAN citizens and a visa-on-arrival port.
