Australia Read ReviewsSydney Olympic Park - There are too many places to visit and things to do at the Sydney Olympic Park that it can be quite mind-boggling. The best place to start is to go to the Sydney Olympic Park Visitor Centre to find out about any ongoing activities and get suggestions from the staff on what to do and even shop for some souvenirs. You can also book your tours here. If you are keener on exploring the park on your own, perhaps you'd consider renting the bicycles. With more than 430 hectares to explore, you really do need the extra speed.
With its urban location, it may be hard to believe that the park has a healthy natural environment that is home to many different types of flora and fauna. It is also a great place for bird watching with more than 180 species recorded, a leisurely walk through a thriving mangrove forest on purpose built boardwalk, an exploration of the wetlands and an in-depth look at the Australian birds at the Birds Australia Discovery Centre. For a bird's eye view of the park, go to the Observation Centre on the 17th floor of the Novotel Hotel. Continue on your cycling adventure on nearly 40 km of walking or cycling trails through verdant bushland and the wetlands. The Sydney Olympic Park is also a wonderful place to bring the whole families for a picnic or barbeque during summer. World-class facilities are available at the Bicentennial Park, Archery Park and Wentworth Common, amongst others. Kids would also enjoy playing in the specially constructed playgrounds that include water feature such as water sprouts and fountains.
The Sydney Olympic Park is, of course, a sporting facility and the most popular venue would be the Aquatic Centre that is open to the public to take quick dips and engage in recreational activities at the leisure pool area. There are spas, sauna, spray jets, water slide and bubble beach in a charming palm tree-lined area. Adults and kids alike would also find great fun in a game of trapeze at the Circus Arts School where professionals would guide you in this adrenalin pumping activity. Then there is the Park Golf Centre for a game of golf and the Tennis Centre for an afternoon of sweating it out on the courts.
