Darling Harbour - Darling Harbour is one of the must-see destinations in Sydney. Located west of the city's Central Business District, Darling Harbour is very popular not only with the tourists, but amongst the Sydneysiders as well. With many attractions and shopping malls on its shore; and tempting blue water, soft warm breeze and all year round sunny disposition, it is no wonder that thousands of people would visit it every year. It also has a rather colourful history with it being the main receiving dock for fresh produce from the neighbouring areas. A major redevelopment project in the early 1980s has turned this once quiet location into a bustling leisure and shopping destination in Sydney.
Darling Harbour is a walking tourists' paradise in which parks, playgrounds and retail outlets are only within minutes away from each other. One can easily walk to its many attractions from the cultural melting pot of Chinatown, Cockle Bay in the north and King Street Wharf in the east. One of the best things to do while you are in Darling Harbour is to visit the National Maritime Museum and the Power House Museum. Then a couple of hours in Sydney Aquarium are much recommended. Weekends are great to catch many of the outdoor and nightime performances that are mostly free as well as spending time at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. Another recommendation is to catch a show at the Aboriginal Centre for a quick glance at their custom and traditions.
