I felt I was put in the service area of a somewhat nice place

one detail

The hallways smelled like chicken soup, there was an overall shabby condition to the hotel, almost as bad as 3star Parisian hotels. The lobby staff were nice, the hotel could step-it-up-a-notch. The location, alone, was excellent. No bathroom toiletries, not enough towels, blankets and bedspread were worn out and looked bad

Room was a bit hot. No sufficient Air Conditioning

Nice lobby and restaurants. Rooms need updating. Looks pretty tatty inside halls and rooms. OK for the money.

We booked a dbl room but were given a twin on arrival. we requested a room change which we got on the second day to a horrible tiny dbl room and were 'forced' to pay an upgrade to a club room which was nice.

The 'chambermaids' were efficient and inobrusive.

The reception staff were very un courteous and unhelpful. Even theough we booke a twin room when we wanted a douboule by mistake, they tried to offer us 2 single rooms. which was un acceptable. they did not really like the idea of a same sex couple sharing the same room.

waiting for breakfast inconvenient, better organisation needed (if the tables would be cleaned more quickly, people could find a table by themselves and need not wait in a queue to be seated)

I thought the room was very small and overpriced.
