From the second we walked in t the second we checked out. My initial reaction on entry to the foyer was that we had walked into some ultra modern nightclub, so was about to turn around and go back outside... Instantly the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room order was mucked up a little bit so we were upgraded to the next size up free of charge which was great. On entry to the room, we were nicely surprised by the modern styling and neat little gadgets and touches that we saw. It reminded me of a room I would imagine in a futuristic space station, or a large Japanese tube hotel... The Large, wall mounted widescreen LCD television was a pleasure to use compared to the cheapo CRT ones in most other mid ranged hotels we had ever stayed in. We used the gym and Apple computers in the guest lounge, (Free internet which was another pleasant surprise). Food and service was excelent also. I have stayed in other hotels that were a bit more practical as this room put syle a bit ahead of practicality in some ways, but hey, who cares when the overall experience was so cool !!!! We are definitely staying there again when we get back to ChCh.

I will definately stay at hotel so again!! can you open up more in different countries so i can stay there too?!

I have highly recommended this Hotel to stay in to anyone that is heading to Christchurch, perhaps you would consider opening one in Auckland, you would do awesome things up here! Cheers Pamela

We were glad we were there for two night so we could fully experience all the mod cons in the rooms, lots to play with, especially loved Mood TV. Just a small gripe, the windows need to be double glazed, we were on the 6th floor but were still bombarded by the crap 80's tunes blaring from the 3 neighboring bars. Either that or give us free ear plugs. We noticed the hotel uses Mac computers, we also have a macbook but were unable to plug the charger into the socket on the desk, you just need to turn the socket sideways so the overside apple charger can get in. (like on the bedside table). We travel a lot and cant wait till there are more SO's. Have been recommending it to all our friends.

The room, although small, had excellent features. We especially liked the mood loghting in the bathroom. The hotel's location was central and convenient and the deal with the nearby car park proved useful. The only negative aspect I can think of was that the noise made by revellers outside carried through into the room quite clearly. Unless the hotel double glazes its windows I don't know there is a lot that can be done about the noise factor. Thank you for a most pleasant stay. My girlfriend rates Hotel So as the best room of the entire holiday. Regards Chris

Rooms are compact admitantly, but very user friendly, tidy and provided totally to our needs. Only criticism would be the difficulty we had getting luggage into the carpark next door, during those hours when the car park was not open to the public. I am happy to recommend Hotel So to friends and associates. Tony.

The location was the main reason we chose the hotel and it wasall we expected, we were able to walk to various parts of the city. The only negative thing was the doona, we found it too warm for our liking (we actually removed the doona from the cover and just used the cover). Perhaps lighter alternatives could be offered, especially for people who do not like the air conditioning to be too cold. The restaurant was very good for both breakfast and lunch. We would have no hesitation in recommending Hotel So to others. Lesley Bugden
