Fantastic views of the geyser! absolutely loved it!

some aspects of the hotel are looking 'tired' but the staff were friendly and enthusiastic. It's real feature is the 'next door' proximity to the geyser - the geyser view rooms give a wonderful outlook.

We had a family room and it was noted that the room was quite tired and in need of redecorating. The drawer in the desk was broken.

Breakfast area was a little too tight, especially if there is are tour buses staying there. Guests could be advised for a best time to go for breakfast to avoid the crowd. Excelent view to the Geyserland with no bad sulfur smell despite the short distance.

One stays at this location for the view. The view out the back of our room was spectacular!! There are geysers, boiling mudpits, etc just meters out our back balcony.

Comment on the spout pool: These were lovely, but spoilt by the dirt around the rim. Can you not get rid of this? A few tiles around the edge would solve this problem and wouldn't cost much. The room was lovely and looking out over the giesers and mud pool was a real bonus.

Rooms were a bit worn - bathroom door did not close properly. Service in the restaurant was extremely slow and food only average.

Great view and plenty of space.

Excellent menu especially for women with smaller appetites I suggest a hair dryer be permanently wired into each room

For a view of the thermal area this hotel is unsurpassed. We were surprised that there were no plunge pools at the hotel as found in many of the other local hotels, often in the rooms but were told it was because the springs were too close. The staff were helpful and accomodated our request to check in early when we arrived around noon, having driven from Auckland after a transpacific flight. We didn't utilize the bar or dining room. By North American standards, the room was a little cramped with 2 queen beds but was adequate. It was clean and well serviced and everything worked.

Every thing was very good except for one point: I booked a room with Gayser view. The room I received was with some view on the Paka area, but not on the gayser. we had to go out of the room and move 10 - 15 meters to the left to see the gayser. When we complained and asked for a room with gayser view we were answered that they know that many such defined rooms do not really have gayser view (the view is blocked by trees) but they define them this way because they are in the direction of the gayser. Because the hotel was fully booked they could not change our room. The manager was nice enough to offer us as a compensation free breakfasts. This was nice, but I definitely cannot except that rooms without view on the gayser are sold as having such view.

The sulfur smell is strong, but that is the cost of the view. If they replace the bed mattress, I would recommend this hotel, but not until then. The mattress was dreadful and probably should have been replaced several years ago. The view of the geyser was superb.

The hotel is ideally situated for the park next to it, we had a fantastic view on the geysers. One minor improvement possible: on the hallway next to our room some metal lid kept banging on the wall (the lid couldn't be closed and the wind moved it) which was a bit disturbing in the night. Since i only stayed one night i can't say if the hotel fixed this problem.

really goog value for them money. Nice, clean hotel with perfect location the rooms overlooking the wakarewarewa thermal area are really wonderfull!!

Good location on the edge of town to get to thermal reserves. A little distance (2 km) to get to city centre for food. Great view!! Spacious room, but the bathroom was a bit tight and the two person whirlpool tub - had no jets and was hard to get in and out of.

Restaurant - limited menu. Not clear that the bottles of wine & packet of nuts left out on the cupboard were complimentary or not - first day no list left was second day and we adjusted.

Gym was poorly equipped.One bike which did not work and one multi gym which had bits missing.
