The room and the service can only be described as 'fair' by Shangrila standard. The beach looks OK, but the view of the cargo ship and the pollution of water makes one reluctant to swim at sea. Luckily the hotel's swimming pool is good. For a leisure beach holiday, I prefer Bintan much more.

I was provided with a free upgrade to pool side room with King-size bed. However, the sofa bed was uneven when opened and extended.

Very happy with the stay. We were pleasantly surprised and thankful as the hotel had laid out a birthday surprise for me as it was my birthday on the check-in day.
