The sitting area one the ground level close to the front desk yet away from the confusion was peaceful. We arrived before our room was ready. While awaiting for the remaining member of our family to arrive, the staff kindly without request notified us that our room was ready and we could have access to it. This hotel was conviently located to Paddington Station making many forms of transportation very close by. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The breakfast with its options was pleasantly presented. This would be one of my first choices and recommendaions to friends for visiting London. We appreciated the room opening card. The dual functioning holder by the door provided not only a place where the key was conviently stored while in this room but also one knew where it was in case of emergency exiting the room. Very important to us was the demonstration of energy conservation by the removal of the card causing the electricity to the room to be turned off.

great location, good breakfast, nice staff - except for the noise (mentioned above)everything was OK. The whole floor above our room no.311 was being renovated with hammering & drilling going on 7am to 7pm - a lot of noise and quite an inconvenience.

Lock on door was not 100 per cent secure during the time I was there, although this was explained to me and I was offered alternative accommodation on checking in.

The girl at the reception desk suddenly forgot all about us when a friend of hers came by and she was not very professional in her way of serving us. When we asked in a friendly way if she had a nice room for us, we got placed in the basement... I don't know if they are connected, but it seemed like it. We got placed in the basement, with construction work going on outside. Not so nice.

Please train your room cleaners to knock before they enter! This happened 3 times during the 5 nights we stayed at the hotel. Not enough lighting for reading purposes.

Promised facilities did not work and there was painters all over the place. No airconditioning. No internet connection. Although non smoking, the balcony was an uge ashtray.We arrived 3.30pm and the room was not ready. The cold water tap on the basin did not work.

Staff friendly but 4 stars were not warranted. The air conditioning did not work. The lift was out of order. Internet access extremely slow.

This is the worst service I've ever gotten from a hotel and I travel for my line of work!

Room 12: if you suffer claustrophobia, you will never come again...

The sofa bed was very very very uncomfortable, hard springs can be felt, no cushion what so ever, they need to change or atleast put a top on it to make it less uncomfortable. The floor felt better.

I have never, in all the hotels I have stayed at in London, on my previous visits had such a small room for the price paid. There was no place to put my luggage.

We were not informed that we had to make a deposit at the hotel ( and it was bigger that the cost of the rooms) 3000 pounds. It could have been a very difficult situation, but we managed it.

Need to get the airconditioning operational.

Hotel well situate within walking distance of many restaurants, shops, tour bus services and underground (subway). I found staff to be considerate and accomodating when treated in the same manner by hotel patrons. Rooms are unusally small compared to North American standards. Double bed and dresser leave very little space within which to maneuver, let alone place luggage. Room and bathroom were extremely clean.

Employees laughing and talking loudly at night waking up guess. Windows were not closed as there was no airconditioning. Frontdesk staff unfriendly. Rooms are too small, not even enough to put the luagage. Airconditioning not working. Cupboards dirty and safe not fixed properly and can be easily carried away. Fixtures in toilet broken. Very poor renovation.
