I booked a room through Holiday City. When we got there, they had no room available for us. After waiting in the lobby for almost 2 hours, they found a room. They did give us a nice suite because of the error. The staff at the hotel was VERY rude during the entire stay. The Internet connection did not work in our room until the last day, so I could not work from the room. We had some friends staying there in a regular room. Their room was SO small, they couldn't walk around the bed and had no place to put their luggage!

Was staying in a 6th floor room - hot water supply to the room was very poor. Clearly there is no circulating pump in the system as at times of the day it was not unusual to have to run the hot water basin and shower taps for around 5 minutes to draw hot water up to the room.

We are well aware of the reputation for London hotel rooms (and for European hotels in general) being very small and we have indeed encountered some that have no floor to stand on once your luggage is in. We (two adults and a 3 year old child) stayed at the Hyde Park Paddington's quad room - we could have gone for the triple, but based on past experience of London hotels, we decided on the quad for a bit of extra space - plus reviews of this hotel's quad room noted that the size was good. By London standards it was a good space, although there was only just enough room to squeeze between one of the beds and the unit with the TV, minibar etc., but this was not really a problem. If you are from Australasia or America (we are from New Zealand), the size of this room would probably be like an average to large double. We found it difficult to find hotel rooms in London that were ok for families, but I would recommend this hotel's quad room (it would be fine for 2 adults and 2 children). I would say the bathroom was a bit small though - only just enough room to stand in. Apart from size, the hotel was clean (just the usual wear and tear evident) and tidy with good, neutral decor. We didn't notice the street noise that other reviewers commented on (although we were on the 5th floor). The location is excellent (5 minutes walk to Paddington Station). The staff were also excellent.

The hotel is located in the city of Westminster which is not very close to major attractions at least by walking. Upon arriving we were given a room on the 4th floor. When we got to the 4th floor, we then had to go up a very narrow curved stairway..about 8 steps to get up to this landing where our room was. With several pieces of heavy luggage, I did not want to have to do this. So we were given a room on the 1st floor though the room number was 800 something. The room had NO view, and was so dimly lit we could hardly see to do things. The shower was extremely small and if you tried to raise your arms above your head to wash your hair, you either turned the water off or to an extreme hot or cold. Water pressure was very poor. We were told there was only Wi-fi in the lobby area but as we were on the 1st floor we tried from our room and was able to connect. We did not get clean towels the 2nd day and had to ask at the desk for them. The in room safe did not work but we were able to put things in the hotel safe. I did not like this hotel. The staff, though courteous, were not warm and friendly. Look elsewhere for a hotel.

London Hotel / To stay or not to stay / that is the question!

This is the 4th time I have stayed in this hotel in 4 years. Its position to the Heathrow Express is perfect. The area in general is great for restaurants, food shops pubs etc. and it is just a 15 min walk accross the park to Knightsbridge.

The down side of our stay was poor maintenance! Lots of things were now broken and had not been repaired. We had to buy our own window lock to lock the window which opened on to the street!!

The reception staff were totally unreliable. We didn't get any of our messages. Friends were told we where not staying in the hotel.

Would I stay there again? Possibly. It was still value for money. Maybe by next year things will have been repaired and new staff will have been employed!! and don't forget - this is London after all!!

It was in a large tree lined avenue, with an off road, road! which would be handy for parking if you arrived by car. The porter was helpful with the bags, a few red carpeted steps up and into a trendy cool receiption The staff were polite and let us see the rooms before we were booked in, we arrived at 12.30pm, we had booked 2 rooms and had to wait until 2pm for rooms on the same floor, one room was smaller than the other, internet access was free and very useful, there was a small fridge, with chilled mineral water, a kettle with biscuits, tea, coffee, milk and sugar. There was a room service menu, breakfast was £15 which we didn't have so can't comment, Praed St was at the top of the road which had KFC, MacD's, Burgerking, cafe's, resturants, a bagel bar, Tesco's, Superdrug, and further up Praed st, there was an M&S. The hotel is very close to Paddington rail & tube Station. The porter on the day we arrived was extremely friendly and set up our tv internet and because we didn't have a great receiption on bbc1 & 2 he fetched a maintainance man who replaced the coaxe cable leading to the tv, which was excellent, he stayed for a chat while it was being fixed and was happier that every thing was working well (very impressed). I would say keep your key card away from your mobile phone as it de-activates it, and if you've been out all day and have to go back down to get it switched on again it can be a peave!( It happened to us twice, before they told us about the mobile thing). The air con was great as London is very warm at night, we were at the back of the hotel and the private appartments oposite have roof terraces and balconies etc, there was a birthday party, on the first night, which was quite noisy, but nothing to bad!! Overall we were very impressed, even though our room was small, but sure your don't go to London to sit in a room !!
