Upon arrival at the Scenic circle both my wife and I were of the opinion I was being "looked down" upon because I am Maori. I am well aware that, due to the cost of the accomodation, this motel caters for the more affluent members of our society but wasn't aware that was restricted to race. My wife and I have stayed in expensive motels all over the world from Zanzibar, Dubai and Caesars Palace in Johannesburg and found the colour of your money was all that counted.
I feel degraded and disappointed that the only place I have ever felt my skin colour was an issue, was in the Country of my birth. Although I specified an early check in between 9-11am, my room wasn't ready and I was told it would be another half hour. When I pointed out to Emma (I think that was her name) that I had requested an early check in she replied "that is between 9 and 11!". I told her that 10am, which was when I arrived, was exactly between 9 and 11 and cancelled my stay.
The company I work for uses the Scenic circle as it's motel of choice when Senior Management visit and we will continue to do so as personally, I feel, this was probably an isolated incident. However, I would be loathe to stay there myself.

I only stayed two nights in this hotel, so can't give a full appreciation of its facilities.
The staff were friendly and helpful, although one young lady seemed a little inexperienced in her job.
The room was very big, unusual, but was clean and comfortable.
I would gladly stay again if I return to Dunedin.
