We thought we would be closer to the downtown area. We had to drive to the places we wanted to visit. There was a convention going on and it was hard to get help at the desk.
Rydges Rotorua is situated on the edge of Rotorua's Arawa Racecourse. It features panoramic views across the city, to Lake Rotorua and Mokoia Island. The CBD is within walking distance. Rydges Rotorua is a 10-minute drive from the airport. Rotorua Convention Centre and Whakarewarewa Geysers are a short walk away.

Rydges Rotorua offers guests this city's most spacious and luxurious accommodation. Featuring 135 rooms including 90 Luxurious Spa Rooms with Private Balconies being the main attraction. Renowned for having the largest Hotel rooms in Rotorua, Rydges Rotorua has 135 stylish guest rooms, 90 of these are Deluxe Spa Rooms while there are also 5 King Spa Suites. All Deluxe Spa rooms feature a private balcony, corner spa bath and a Lounge chair & footstool. All rooms received new carpet in 2007 as well as a fresh coat of paint. The addition of 32 inch LCD Flat Screen Televisions into all rooms has been another added benefit. Again the largest rooms in Rotorua. Deluxe rooms feature either 1 King bed or 2 Queen beds. Both setups will still comfortably allow additional rollaway bedding if required. Most Deluxe rooms offer views over the Arawa racecourse towards either Lake Rotorua or the City. This room type also features its own two person corner spa bath, a private balcony and lounge chair with foot stool.

You need not go further for dining than hotel's award winning Atrium Restaurant which features modern and classic cuisine with the highlight being live cooking experience with "Asian with Anchalee", on Friday and Saturday nights.

The only disappointment in this hotel was the mid week menu and quality of food at dinner. . We had a room overlooking the race course and could watch the horses training in the early morning. The jacuzzi was a nice toch.
