We thought we would be closer to the downtown area. We had to drive to the places we wanted to visit. There was a convention going on and it was hard to get help at the desk.

We loved Rydges Rotorua, and on the basis of our stay here booked another Rydges in Christchurch - which was also good, but just not the same somehow. Rydges Rotorua was like stepping back in time to a more elegant era - but without losing the conveniences of modern times. Staff were always pleasant and helpful, the decor was lovely, the food was good, and the room was spacious and well equipped. All in all, in a holiday of 3 and a half weeks travelling round Australia and New Zealand, this was our favourite hotel.

loved staying in your hotel room service was great and the pricing was good only grip was wanted to use the internet and the price i was quoted was rediculas some thing like $15 FOR 30 MIN only wanted to check emails and my bank account , but apart from that was very happy its a beautiful place thank you my daughter loved it

Payed extra for a room with a spa.....but no hot water. The price was to be adjusted but never done . Poor show, lots of bull from the reception about no hot water, like run the hot tap for half an hour and it should come hot....

The first room we were given had a visibly saggy bed (I was very surprised a hotel like this would have such a bad bed) but when we complained we were upgraded to a better room.

The only disagreeable points about this hotel were the gym facilities which I found to be disappointing. the equipment was of a poor standard andone of the days I went to use the gym there was a leak in the roof. The swimming pool was out of commission for the entire duration of our stay which was a disappointment and and something we were only informed of after we hadbooked and checked in. The room was very satisfactory. It was large , clean, well appointed, had a lot of day-light and had a lovely view out onto the racecourse.

The only disappointment in this hotel was the mid week menu and quality of food at dinner. We had a room overlooking the race course and could watch the horses training in the early morning. The jacuzzi was a nice toch.

Excellent location. Was in a short walking distance of everything of interest. Excellent lay out of rooms. Both rooms were extremely spacious, and well equipped.
