The Hotel was situated in an ideal location. Looking over the lake towards the "Remarkables". Only a short and very pleasant lake side walk to "Steamer Wharf" and then beyond into Queenstown.
The Hotel was excellent with Staff always at hand. Very rarely did we need them as it was all a low key, hassle free stay. Never had a problem. The room/s were made up daily in excellent fashion and very discretely with full facilities top up. We never did see the room service person but it just happened.
There was a "special wedding" arranged while we stayed there and we were adequately informed by management and it had no impact on our stay at all. A credit to the Hotel and staff.
Car parking was "free" and never a problem.Food was excellent along with the service.
Would we stay at "Rydges Queenstown" again? You bet!

We stayed at Rydges for 3 nights and 2 of the 3 nights were without hot water. We were not compensated and each time we asked for a possible time that the hot water would be working again we were told that it "should be working soon". We were still charged the full price for our room, but the lack of hot water made the stay less enjoyable, especially for the price that we were paying.

Draw unit in poor repair,Toilet pan cracked,bath wall linings old and joints not maintained.

We were offered a smoking room when we arrived. We had specifically asked for NON smoking. Also we asked for a high floor and were not offered the highest floor.

Staff very helpful, we had no hot water for one day and they offered us a different room or free breakfast for two days A good sized room with a great view of the lake although not all rooms had this view.

In my opinion the hotel needs a major makeover. The room which at one time had two double beds now has one plus two patio furniture benches that are made of folding metal frames and wood planks. THEY MATCH THE PATIO FURNITURE ON THE BALCONY. The room had no table or chairs and the bottom of the bed was only 15 inches from the unit that held the T.V. and fridge.It was so close I could not open the fridge door all the way out.

Breakfast very expensive!

A small number of blankets were provided. Not sufficient for a cold place such as Queenstown. Also, we complained about the coldness of the room. It was not until day three that a portable oil heater was provided. The only explination offered was that someone must have removed it at a time when the room was not occupied. Once the heater was provided the room was much more pleasant to stay in.
