after staying at the Novatel a million times in Sydney...it seemed like the obvious choice to stay at Novatel when we had to visit Canberra. We booked a suite so were expecting a good room. We were not impressed. And the worst thing was the bed. It was like springy concrete and was smaller than what was advertised. We have been in more comfortable beds in cheap motels. We immediately checked out after 10 or 15 minutes, we still had to pay for the room though which was annoying as we didn't use it but I guess that is their policy. We then went to the Hyatt and for an extra $45 we got the room of our dreams. Perfect king size bed, extremely comfortable, stylish and sophisticated decor and the service was outstanding. We will never stay at Novatel Canberra nor will we recommend it to anyone. We have since heard bad reviews from other people who have stayed there. We will pay a little extra and stay at the Hyatt from now on.
PS the carpark at Novatel Canberra is the worst I have ever seen, I would imagine there would be a lot of prangs there.

The hotel met our expectations over all.
First of all, it is located in the center of the city and it was very good in respect of convenience. The bus terminal was behind the hotel, which was convenient as we didn't rent a car. There are also some nice restaurants and bars, a shopping center around it, which we enjoyed.

Secondly the room was very clean and confortable.
The bathtub was big enough and we could really relax with a plenty of hot water.

One thing which we were not happy was housekeepers' attitude who never smile or say greetings anytime when we saw on the corridor. I hope they were just too shy.
Staffs at the front desk were very polite and helpful.

I would recommend the hotel to our friends, but it depends on their purpose of traveling.

The girls in reception was extremely helpful and obliging on Sat night. Chris in the restaurant also went out of his way to be helpful. The food on the breakfast buffet could have been a bit hotter.

Dinner was a disater - waited 45 minutes to be seated, then 45 minutes for any food, did not bring out the starters first - MEat was undercooked and had to be returned - did not provide good service

excellent service, location could not have been better separate living area was excellent

Bed was comfortable but pillows were too thin

Broadband internet would be appreciated.
