Mingood Hotel is excellently located on the fringe of the city centre. A good choice for Thai Visa Applicants. The hotel are within 2 minutes walking distance of the city centre and the guest don't need to travel far to visit 'Chinatown', 'Little India', 'The Heritage Trail' or 'UPR Entertainment Centre'. A short walk down Penang Road takes guest to 'Komtar', the city's premier landmark and shopping mall.

Fine dinning and local hawker food are all available on the doorstep. Located close to the chic part of town with excellent nightlife, surrounded by cafes, good multi-ethnic restaurants, shops and the coolest bars & pubs. In fact, the famous New World Park Food Court and Entertainment Center is just 520 steps (a mere 5 minute walk) from the hotel.

How to get to the hotel:

From the Penang International Airport

Guest may get to the hotel by airport taxi which operates by coupon system . Get the coupon from its counter which is located in front of the exit door of the arrival hall. The ride to the hotel will take not more than 30 minutes.

Airport Bus to the City is available with RapidPenang Bus which departs from Level 1, just outside on the right of airport's departure hall. Frequency is every 30 Minutes. Good choice for those not in a hurry to get into the city.

From the Train Station

By following the signboards, it will lead guest to the ferry terminal which is adjacent to the train station (5 min walk). The journey to Georgetown terminal takes about 20 minutes. From the terminal, a 3 minute walk takes you to the taxi/bus stand. The journey through the streets of Georgetown should take only 10 minutes. Guest can also try the trishaws and the fare should not be more than RM8. (Please enquire the fare before boarding a taxi or trishaw).

Guest may take the RapidPenang Public bus to Penang Road and stop in front of 7/11, ie. ring the bell once to see Veenai Cinema. Hotel is about 150m from the bus-stop.

If guest are driving, turn left as the guest come out from the ferry terminal. The guest are now in Jalan Pengkalan Weld. Make a right at the first right turning and will be in Chulia Street. By driving along this street, it will lead to the end where it meets Penang Road and Argyll Road. The guest will see Veenai Odeon cinema right in front. There is a road divider ahead which blocks the passage to Argyll Road. Turn left into Penang road and take the first right into Dato' Koyah road and another right into Clarke Street. There will be MAA Building as you make a left into Argyll road. The hotel are just 3 doors from the MAA building. Guest will notice a Caltex petrol station on the left before reaching the hotel.

From the Langkawi/Medan Ferry Terminal

After come out of the terminal, there are lots of taxis and trishaws available. Guest can board either but remember to enquire the fare before boarding. The terminal is just beside the Fort Cornwallis (an old British fort) which is within the Esplanade grounds. The short route takes guest through a scenic part of Georgetown with some old majestic buildings along the way and the ride by taxi should be less than 10 minutes.

From Penang Bridge by car

As the guest cross over one of Asia's longest bridge, will notice Jerejak Island on the left (a former Leprosy island which later converted into a penal colony and which is now a resort). As the guest inch closer to Penang Island, look out for the directions to Georgetown.

From Penang Bridge, the quickest route to Georgetown is by using the new Jelutong Expressway. As the guest exit the bridge look out for Georgetown and travel along this straight coastal road, the sea should be on the right while Caltex petrol station and Tesco should be on the left. Guest will be able to notice Komtar (the tallest building on the island) ahead. Keep going straight for the next few minutes (no left turns yet). As the guest inch closer to the city centre, traffic seems to build up and moving at a slower pace. Continue the journey and guest will reach the first traffic light. The second traffic light is less than 100 metres from the first one. Be prepared to make the first left turn after the second traffic light (do not turn at the traffic light). As you turn left (first turning) you will notice the road seemingly narrower and traffic moving even slower. Turn right (second turning) at the first intersection and be prepared to make a left turn (third turning) at the next one. Guest are now in Magazine Road and traffic is at a crawl.

As the guest travel along this road, Prangin Mall, Traders Hotel and Komtar will be on the right. The traffic lights are very close to one another. Keep to the right side of the street and at the third traffic light, turn right (fourth turning). Guest are now in Penang road and this time keep to the left side of the street. There will notice a pedestrian bridge ahead and at this bridge make a left turn into Burma road (fifth turning). Now immediately keep to the right side of the street and make a right (sixth turning) at 'Trinity Auto'. Guest are now in Transfer road and the journey is nearing its end. Keep on going and will pass a traffic light and a short distance later a 'Caltex' station. At that intersection (Caltex), make a left (seventh turning). Now are just before the MAA building. The journey ends here. The duration from Penang bridge to Mingood Hotel should be between 15 to 20 minutes.
