Southern Cross Station - Formerly known as the Spencer Street Station, it was renamed as the Southern Cross Station in 2005 when it underwent a massive physical redevelopment. As one of the five stations on the loop that encircles the CBD, the Southern Cross Station is certainly a busy station that also serves as the regional terminus for the state railway network. Located on Spencer Street, between La Strobe and Collins Streets, the station is the third busiest in Melbourne and is located next to the popular Spencer Street Fashion Station and the Etihad Stadium.
The railway station also has a coach terminal that provides services to the Melbourne Airport, Avalon Airport and many other towns that are connected via the railway network. Aside from being a major railway station in Melbourne, the Southern Cross Station offers other conveniences such as a food court and few retailers on-site. It is also disabled-friendly and attentive to the needs of the elderly with a range of travellers aids and facilities.
