We stayed in the Macleary apartments during our world trip; it provided very good value for money. The staff were excellent and very helpful; the service was also everything that you would expect for the price that you are paying.
You need to be on the upper floors (above the 6th), if a view of the harbour is important to you. The apartments are conveniently situated, although they are on the edge of the ‘Gay Quarter’, but this is not obtrusive. All cuisine’s available close bye with a complete range of prices to suit your budget in addition to supermarkets for self catering and many bars. Good services available for public transport (rail, bus and taxi), the apartments are within walking distance (20min) of the main harbour area, although it is uphill when you return. We would certainly visit the apartments again and recommend them.

When we arrived it was raining and the room that we were booked in had water pouring down the windows, down the wall and into the carpet and was 6 inches from the bed! When we rang the reception to say that this was the case the lady did not seem surprised and almost put out that we didnt want the room. We did get another room in the end which was dry thankfully. One thing thou, the small cook plate cords do not reach the power points, we had to keep pulling the bar frigde out to use the cooker, not only dangerous but very annoying. Can I suggest you put in an extenstion cord.
Location of this hotel is excellent and the veiw from our room 812 was fantastic.

The older gentleman Trevor is excellent in knowledge, attitude and service and was always pleasant and friendly. Some others not so good.

We did enjoy our stay thou in this wonderful city and was a fantastic honeymoon. We will be using this hotel again mainly because the location is excellent and the cost is pretty fair.

This hotel has amazing views of the Bridge and the Opera House. But if you want those you have to ask and book well in advance. Trust me though it is completely worth it! It is amazing waking up to that view every morning and it is incredible at night time as well!

Location wise it is excellant, the bus is cheap but it is also easy to walk to the Opera House, to the city and is only about a 45 min walk to Darling Harbour.

I would definitely stay here again.

The staff were very friendly and very ablidging.
A central location for looking around Sydney with a bus being less than two miinures walk from the hotel.
Has a Woolworths supermarket across the road.
Has hi speed internet access available.
The room was a bit on the small size.
I will use this hotel again.

Have just stayed 4 nights in the apartments with my wife and 2 sons. The hotel is in an excellent position, being some 10 minutes walk from the botanical gardens and from there onto the Opera house and Circular Key. Potts Point is a very laid back area.

The reception staff were helpful and friendly.

However, the room was Very small, basically a small double with 2 extra beds, so although you do have cooking facilities, this was impossible to use, other than for breakfast, so think twice if, like us, there are 4 of you. The rooms really are only doubles.

Also remember that Potts Point adjoins Kings Cross, which, at night time, can become somewhat leud and not the place for children !

Dealing with a family of four, this was available and the cheapest accomodation that we could find last minute (2 weeks before arrival). This was our first visit to Australia in general. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable with our questions about transportation in the city and other misc things tourist needed to know, or if they didn't know then they would ask the right people themselves. We didn't know that we were right next to a red light district where we would always walk through to get to a rail station, but the red light district didn't seem to have any harrassing random strangers so it was tolerable. In terms of the positive things about the location, there was a supermarket very conviently across the street, post office a couple blocks away, many restaurants scattered throughout, King's Cross rail station close by and a few bus stops close by too. Oh and lots of shops that sell the same, typical tourist soverniers for the cheapest prices possible compared to the expensive counterparts in the actual tourist hotspots.
