Le Meridien She Shan Shanghai Hotel is in the Song Jiang district, approximately 46 kilometres southwest of Shanghai City. The hotel is built next to the National Tourist Resort and the largest man-made lake in Shanghai. The National Tourist Resort of She Shan comprises some 47 square kilometres and is the only area in Shanghai that offers scenic mountain views.
Le Meridien She Shan Shanghai Hotel's nearby attractions include the National Forest Park and She Shan Cathedral, one of the Far East's oldest remaining cathedrals built in 1871, as well as the She Shan Observatory. An ancient water village and a shopping outlet with over 200 branded shops are all located a short drive away.
For tourists, Shanghai is a living museum of 19th-century European and Japanese architecture, but there's far more besides. There's the exquisite Yuyuan Garden, laid out nearly 500 years ago, known for its dragon walls, beautifully shaped doors, bamboo groves, winding walkways and elegant furniture, all in a typical south China style. Nearby is the fascinating Yuyuan Market, once the busiest in the city. Other tourist attractions of note include Shanghai Museum in People Square, the Shanghai Art and Handicrafts Research Institute, where top artisans develop new crafts, the Jade Buddha Temple, founded in 1882, and the Longhua Pagoda and Temple.
