which mostly are naturally occurring attractions. This petite city in Borneo
Island usually gets crowded during European holiday seasons as the Kota Kinabalu
is a preferred transit for tourists heading to other major attractions of the
town such as Sepilok, Tawau and more. There are many places to go and see such
as the Atkinson Clock Tower, just a brisk walk away from the city centre on a
hill beside Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman. Staying here is not a problem at all as
the town has plenty of Kota Kinabalu hotels ranging from luxury golf resorts
down to cheap hotels that you can choose according to your budget and
preference.
If you're looking for
cheap Kota
Kinabalu hotels to stay, Kota Kinabalu
City
Centre has plenty of it scattered throughout the area. The City Centre is a
small area that you can practically walk from one corner to another in just half
an hour, thus looking and scouting for a good budgeted hotel di Kota Kinabalu is
not a big deal at all. Most of the hotels in City Centre are well furnished with
decent rooms and basic toiletries. You may want to scout around before jumping
into one as most of the cheap hotel rooms are bit smaller than international
standards. Breakfasts are usually inclusive with rooms and it's advisable not to
omit breakfast from room booking if you're not used to local food for breakfast.
Island hopping is one of the favourite activities for tourists and such one
prominent island with superb beach and excellent resort is the
Gaya Island,
located just ten minutes off Kota Kinabalu town. The island has a few
outstanding
luxury Kota Kinabalu hotels and resorts, offering sheer serenity and total
relaxation for its guests. Half of the island is inhabited and protected as
Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park. You can trek up the park about one and a half
kilometres from the main beach to its viewing dock where you can get a
magnificent view of the blue South China Sea.
If you don't prefer travelling in boats but wants to enjoy the tropical beach
then make you way to
Tanjung
Aru, just about fifteen minutes of travel from City Centre. With some
midrange and luxury hotel in Kota Kinabalu located right by the beach, Tanjung
Aru boasts with white sandy beaches and plenty of water activities for tourists,
and there are plenty of local food stalls too but be wary as some of the spices
may be too harsh for those who are not used to spicy foods. There's a midrange
shopping complex too, the Tanjung Aru Plaza just within minutes of walking from
the beach.
Kota Kinabalu - Kota Kinabalu, formerly known as Jesselton is the
capital for Sabah state, Malaysia and located at the tip of Borneo Island, the
third largest island in the world. Located at the northwest coast of Borneo,
Kota Kinabalu has one of the most excellent and clearest views of South China
Sea, making the city a huge tourist attraction site. Kota Kinabalu city centre
is the centre of major businesses and commercial activities in Kota Kinabalu
region, thus making this small town very busy with heavy traffic during
weekdays, but since it's such a small town, you can simply walk from one end to
another within an hour. Kota Kinabalu is also acts as transit town for those
heading towards Mount Kinabalu.
There are plenty of sightseeing locations in city centre itself, for example
the Atkinson Clock tower which was built in 1902. For a clearer view of the city
and the sea, hike up the hill beside the clock tower towards the Signal hill
Observatory, located on top of the hill. From here, you can have a panoramic
view of the town the streets clearly. Cheap trinkets, souvenirs and titbits can
be bought in Kota Kinabalu Handicraft Market, or commonly known as 'Pasar
Filipino', but be ready for a hard bargain as the traders tend to sell at higher
