We had booked 4 hotels on north island and each hotel had been better than the last until we arrived in Wellington. This hotel offered small and tired rooms so much so that we cancelled our second night paid just $5 more and found ourselves a modern central location hotel that exceeded our expectations. Kingsgate Hotel needs a full renovation not just a lick of paint. The staff are helpful but the hotel is away from the main downtown area and 2 out of 3 taxi drivers did NOT know there way to the hotel resulting in additional costs. This hotel may suit a business visit but at this price there are other establishments which offer so much more for a very modest $5 more.

Overall very pleasing. Very close central location. Especially handy for parking.

Good location. Need update the bathroom, and hotel lobby are, and it would be even better to have appartment facility or kitchennet. Staff are great and friendly.
