Kingfisher Bay Resort & Village Fraser Island - Return Transfer Options Brisbane/Hervey Bay

From 1 November 2009, Kingfisher Bay Resort Group will be relocating its Marine Operations and Mainland Reception to premises at River Heads. Kingfisher Bay Resort’s Mainland Reception will be at River Heads Village approximately two minutes drive from the ferry departure point. Guests will be transported to the departure point by bus shortly before the ferry departure. Reception facilities will allow people to wait for services in comfort, with the availability of food and beverages and car parking.

The ferry has been refurbished with seating for 220 passengers on two decks with a fully licensed bar & snack food available on board.

Where is River Heads, Hervey Bay?

Approximately 15 km (20 minutes) south of Hervey Bay city centre and about 42 km north of  Maryborough (40 minutes).

Approximately 15 minute drive from Hervey Bay Fraser Coast Airport. The drive along the Bruce Highway from Brisbane to River Heads is less distance and travelling time than Hervey Bay to Urangan Harbour.

Will the Ferry times change?
The Ferry times will remain similar to current timetable with the addition of more services.

The trip to/from Kingfisher Bay Resort will take approximately 50 minutes (vs 45 by catamaran currently).

Ex River Heads: 6.45am; 9.00am; 12.30pm; 3.30pm; 7.30pm; 9.30pm

Ex Kingfisher Bay Resort: 7.50am; 10.30am; 2.00pm; 5.00pm; 8.30pm; 11.00pm

Will prices alter?

All contracted rates will be the same as advised.

How will Airport and Bus Terminal transfers work?

Kingfisher Bay Resort will continue to operate courtesy transfer from Hervey Bay Fraser Coast Airport and The Bay Central Bus Terminal.

Brisbane Transfers

Coach transfers from Brisbane to Hervey Bay via Brisbane Domestic and International Airport will remain.

Times are subject to change, currently:

Ex River Heads to Brisbane: 9.00am (guests depart on the 7.50am ferry).

*Previous departure time 8.30am

Ex Brisbane to River Heads: 2pm-2.30pm (guests transfer on the 7.30pm ferry).

The following scheduled shuttle service from Brisbane to Hervey Bay will be available:

Departure from Brisbane Roma Street Transit Centre at 14:00 - Level 3 / Bay 34 (clients to look for Kingfisher Bay resort sign).

Departure from  Brisbane Domestic Airport at 14:20 - coach zone (clearly marked), opposite Qantas Terminal
(look for Kingfisher Bay resort sign).

Departure from Brisbane International Airport at 14:30 - ground transport zone (look for Kingfisher Bay resort sign).

Note: Hotel pick-ups from Brisbane hotel accommodation will not be available.

Secure Parking

Secure car parking will be available for house-guests at River Heads adjacent to the Mainland Reception.

How does this affect your clients?

Its does not affect them. Kingfisher Bay Resort will continue to offer a modern, comfortable and efficient transfer service to Fraser Island. During the leisurely cruise across the Great Sandy Strait guests may see dolphins, dugongs and turtles and have excellent views of Fraser Island.
