Fantastic stay in Singapore“s Intercontinental

The staff could not have been more helpful and efficient. A delight to deal with them! The near by markets at Boogie St are quite nice and Arab Street and Little India are about 15 minutes walking. I had only one breakfast in the hotel and it was delicious and very well presented. A bit pricey though ($29 Singapore Dollars for some oats, a fruit juice and a cup of coffee..) The city is interesting, particularly the old part of town, clean, lots of yummy foods and peaceful. I was travelling alone and I was a bit weary but I actually felt very safe at all times.... Admirable feeling of harmony among the different communities living in Singapore...I will go back again for a little holiday. The only problem is the weather, rather hot and humid...but it can“t be helped.
Brief stay in Singapore

I had to accopmlish a lot in a short amount of time. Thanks to the concierge who was extremely friendly, knowledgable and helpful - I was able to accomplish everything I had to do. Not a great place for singles, and the bar is kind of boring, but the service and staff are great.
Staff made you very welcome from the time I arrived. Room upgrade and fruit bowl were greatly appreciated.
My short stay at the Intercontinental
The hotel was excellent and met all my expectations. It is in a convenient location with excellent facilities. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a high standard of accomodation and reasonable room rates. Lawrence Teo Salter Point Western Australia
Good leisurely stay...
Having stayed at Intercontinental several times, I chose the hotel again for a leisure weekend stay. Upon check-in, we were upgraded to a shophouse room which was located at the farthest corner on the 3rd floor. The guest service agent who registered us even escorted us right to our room so that was a nice touch. As an asthmatic, the minute I stepped into the room, there was a strong stale smell of smoke left behind by the last occupant. The room was large, clean and comfortable. But the bed felt a tad "springy" as compared to the beds at the tower block. We requested the room to be freshened up and it was done and the bed was turned down when we returned. The bathroom however needs to be spruced up. The tiles in the shower have cracks in them and looking very old. The water pressure is also lacking in the shower so a rainfall shower would be ideal. The next day I called the operator and enquired what time does breakfast end and was told 11am. By the time we went for breakfast at 10.30am, we were told the buffet breakfast is closed. I explained that I was informed it ends at 11am and was told by the manager that a la carte breakfast ends at 11am but buffet breakfast ends at 10.30am. However, he offered to extend the buffet closing time for us. One of the waiters even offered to take a plate of fruits for us before the buffet closed. We were happy with the range of breakfast items served as well as the service from the waitstaff at The Olive tree. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for business travellers or those travelling with families.

bed firmness was poor, far too soft and springy for this class of hotel and room rate
