Rented the 4-bed villa for a holiday with two other families. It was a wonderful experience. A large private pool was one of the highlights. It was easy to get around the extended resort in the complimentary golf buggies. Very spacious rooms and generally comfortable environment. The only complaint was that the sinks and the showers would not drain very well. Great experience overall.

Staff excellent, location good, privacy of villas really welcomed. It was fun having a buggy to get around in.

All that said, the Indra Maya villas are looking very tired. For the amount of money you spend a night, they really need an upgrade.

Also, we found the Thai restaurant right next to the villas seriously overpriced. The food was good, not excellent and we certainly paid alot more than we would have for a nice Thai restaurant in Singapore.

Am neutral on recommendation. I liked many things about it, but they really need to upgrade. I think this is the feeling of alot of people now about Bintan. In order to get repeat business money needs to be invested again.

We were looking for a complete rest and yes we got it but must say a bit too much - with literally nothing to do at the resort (unless you want to ride the big banana or 4WD on the sand dunes) and they make it very difficult for you to leave the resort - A$45 for a 2 hour taxi hire. Food inside the resort (about 6 restaurants) was adequate but not worth the money and wine was prohibitive. The villa itself is great, but furniture, fixtures and fittings tired and in need of a refurbishment. If you think you will cook in your villa - think again - kitchen is perfectly adequate but unless you pack your Esky in Singapore - forget it - it is simply too hard and there are no shops to purchase anything but beer, milk, and munchies. Golf at Lugana Bintan was worldclass and so was the food and service. We stayed 6 nights - 4 would have been enough.

There are alot of ants crawling around the villa, esp the kitchen. These ants are huge, not the normal type that we see. Also the staff are very inflexible and somehow rude. At the end of our trip, we actually filled in a feedback form and speaked to the Rooms Manager about how we felt about the villa.

Should have more food outlets. Shampoo and Conditioner put into containers - not easily pourder out.

WOW!!! Pool area was fantastic. The villa was beautiful with more than enough space for a family and I lost count of how many bathrooms we had. The villa looked like it needed a little maintenance in a couple of places though and I think it would be a good idea to equip villas with washing machines and dryers. Overall it was fantastic and we will definitely be returning.

Service was good. However, on a very rainy morning, we had someone ring on our doorbell twice with umbrellas which is a good thought, but the time was 8.15am and everyone was sleeping. As much as it was a good gesture, a courteous & polite move from the hotel service staff, it was too early on a Saturday morning plus after ringing doorbell once,and if no one answers, I think the person should not continously ring and wake the guests up at that hour of the day. I do realise that the area is surrounded with trees and plants which is lovely but gardeners may need to make sure some action is taken on insects in the area. We had quite a lot of the very big ants crawling into the bathroom in the evening which was not pleasant when you accidentally step on them and they bite.

Room smelt very smokey on arrival but staff were very helpful to overcome problem. Some facilities were in need of some attention.

Our villa cost $SD1100.00 per night. When one spends this kind of money, a certain standard of both service and upkeep is expected. The Indra Maya villas fall well short of this standard. I have stayed in many resorts in Indonesia at a similar rate - including The Four Seasons, Jimbaran Bay and The Dusun villas in Bali - by comparison, the Indra Maya villas are a rip-off. I will not return again. The Indra Maya villas are in desperate need of maintenance. In one room, the shower was unusable due to mould and grime. On the second day the shower fitting fell off the wall. It was never repaired. The second bathroom light did not work. A bedroom chair fell to bits when moved closer to the tv. Engineering repaired it but the job was not up to scratch - large screws were left sticking out. The fountain in the entranceway was blocked and consequently flooded each day. A tile was missing from the pool. Several outside lamps were blown and there was mould both inside and outside the villa. Although a coffee machine was provided in the kitchen, the coffee it required couldn't be purchased anywhere. The butler told us we could use the Nescafe sachets provided or order a pot of coffee from room service instead. Only one buggy was provided for six people. When we asked to hire a second, we were told there were no more because the villas were full up.
