We enjoyed our stay, restuarant and menu very good, I had the NZ green lipped mussels, best I had in all the hotels in NZ.

The outstanding feature of our stay was the service. All staff were friendly, knowledgable and helpful. Would recommend on this basis alone.

The Holiday Inn on Avon was a fabulous hotel to stay in for travellers who had never been to New Zealand, let alone Christchurch before. The hotel was easy to find, close to the centre of Christchurch yet tucked away close to the Avon river so it felt as though it was sheltered from all the hustle and bustle. The staff and service at the Holiday Inn on Avon was impeccable! From the hotel staff (who folded our pjs and left them on the pillow) to the restaurant staff and our favourite bar man Sol, they made the place a wonderful and relaxing place to stay. I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a warm and comfortable value for money hotel in Christchurch!

The location is fine facing the beautiful Avon River except if the weather is bad coz the location is bit far from the city and it takes a while for schedule of shuttle service (every 30 min)

We really enjoyed the stay. The staff were extrememly helpful to us specifically with our reservations and communications.We got useful tips on seeing the sights, free parking, and really good food! The room was quiet, clean, and peaceful which helped us overseas travellers catch up on zzz's.

This may sound quite particular. However if you we considering reovating at any point a ramp down the stairs towads the litfs would be very usefull with heavey luggage. As dragging our heavey suitcase up and down the steps was the only constructive feedback we would give. Thanks so much.

I had booked just for myself, but had a friend meet me at the last minute over there. Without any hassle, they provided a room that had two doubles beds free of charge - now that's service!

We also had a few drinks at the bar there - excellent service, and the bar person was very friendly.

Top spot along the river!

The location of this hotel was perfect - easy walk into the main city centre along the river side, yet off the main roads away from traffic noise. It was a bit hard to find as Oxford Terrace has many separate "bits" to it - we knew it was on the river so just kept making our way back in that direction but it took a while and this is frustrating when you are a tired stranger to town. Very comfortable big room and older but well appointed bathroom. Good restaurant, access to room service and generous cheap "bar snacks" such as fish and chips and pizzas gave a range of options to avoid walking back into the city on arrival.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your hotel. The location, a quiet area within easy walking distance to the city, hotel facilities and staff were all excellent and we will have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

We booked a standard room but were given a whole suite including kitchen and lounge when we arrived. It exceeded our expectations.

Clean, comfortable and well-appointed room. A welcome note from the manager was a nice touch.
