Booked on the internet for $100 excellent price but if I booked a second night at hte hotel it was $164. So took tje option of moving!

We traveled for tourism, to see as much as possible in whatever time we had. This hotel i old but well kept and served the purpose as we were there to bath and sleep. The beds are comfortable, the room clean so was the bathroom. One potential problem, has 4 floors (5 if you count american stile) and no elevator. Location is very good, bus across the street takes you to the city and from there wherever you want to go. Staff was excellent helping us around with info, direction, even printing our boarding passes.

The only observation I would make is that there should be a greater distinction in the name between Holiday Inn Darwin & the Holiday Inn Darwin Esplanade.

Having stayed at many Holiday Inn Hotels I found that the room above fell well below my expectations for the date charged.
The room itself was filthy with dirty stained carpets, blood splatter on wall and general appearance lacking care and maintenance. The furniture was dated with the lounge settee unuasable do to poor seating condition. The bed was deplorably unconfortable that was likened to sleeping on a board with no mattress.
The above were barely tolerable but the unbearable issue was the unacceptable noise from the airconditioning unit in and outside the room. Room maintenance attempted to quieten the a/c down having repaired fan covers etc. but the operational noise from the a/c supply unit meant that the a/c had to be turned off at night. The alternative of opening the patio door was denied due to the noise emmitted from the adjoined Holiday Inn building airconditioner compressors.
In all a dreadful stay at what I thought was a 4 star rated hotel.
I will be forwarding an official complaint to Holiday Inn and Qantas (who arrange all our travel) regarding these unacceptable issues as accomodation used by myself and company employees will now be reconsidered.

we were very pleased and enjoyed our brief first stay in Darwin at your hotel.

The overal quality of the rooms is average. They need some upgrading.
