A Pleasant Suprise Reviewer: Aaron Baum Date of review: 7 May 2009 Recommends this hotel: YES Recommended for: Business, Leisure, Romance, Couples Room Hotel Facilities 5 Bed 5 Ambience 5 Cleanliness 5 Service 5 Room Size 5 Location 5 Amenities 4 Value for Money 5 This was our first trip to New Orleans and were not sure of the lay of the land but knew we had friends staying on the corner of Canal and Bourbon and that this hotel was not only a few blocks away but also about $50 cheaper per night. After reading the mixed reviews on this place, we were unsure what we were walking into, but were willing to give it a try in the name of saving a few bucks. Afterall, the hotel was really only a place to sleep shower and change while we spent the days and nights living the Jazzfest lifestyle. Needless to say, we were pleasantly suprised to find a hotel worthy of the Hilton name. They were able to accomodate us and allow an upgrade to king bed with a view as well as early check-in and late check-out. The free cookies and fruit available at 5 were a nice touch and a great post-Jazzfest snack. We loved the rooftop pool and the fact it was open until 10pm allowed plenty of time for us to recharge before we hit the town for the night. The hotel is off the beaten path by about a block or two and I could see how some people could be a bit nervous walking those blocks home at night but we had no problems at all. The staff was very friendly and accomodating both throughout our stay and beyond. I actually left my iPod in the room and they made sure to send it back to me!! Great customer service in my book and one of many reasons we will be going back there next year!!
