Well appointed, only a large carving knife needed in the utensil drawer

The panoramic alpine restaurant was disappointing. The chef/staff were far LESS flexible in adjusting menu to meet indiviodual's dietary requirements than anywhere else in NZ. Given your price levels were very high ( relative to elsewhere in NZ ) this was disapointing. Location absolutely supurb.

Pricy, but worth it to be at Mount Cook with an amazing view and wonderful hiking. The restaurant in the hotel was rather up-market, but the food was very well prepared and presented, and quite professionally served. The ambience was upscale with delightful music. All in all, I would recommend it.

How can you beat staying at the bottom of Mount Cook?! Great to stay in a Chalet! Nice bed, fair size, only improvement would be to ad air conditioning

Being there at a quiet time of year meant the menu was a little limited for dinners after 3 nights Views are fantastic. No down sides

Felt it very expensive package. We booked in Jan and were charged Summer Rates eventhough we went in May. Fortunately a very nice reception man said we had been overcharged once I commented on how expensive it is to stay at The Hermitage. When we booked in Jan we requested one big bed and got two doubles very disappointing.

The restaurant was almost empty which rather detracted from the ambience. The live entertainment (guitarist) was frankly irritating although the food was good. The room was spacious and very comfortable with a large picture window facing Mount Cook, although the window could have done with cleaning. There were old stains on the bedspread but otherwise the room was very clean.
