Poor service, make sure you asked for a housekeeper when booking because noone will make up the room otherwise, after that you have to pay 20 dollars to have your room cleaned. They don't even give you new soaps and shampoo if you don't ask, the check out is at 10 am after that you pay 10 dollars to be allowed to check out at 11...

Small clean room, friendly staff. Early10am check out time with extra charge for looking after bags,$2 per bag as we had an afternoon flight,bit chippyI thought! also $50.00 hold back fee for 1 week which I haven't come across before. We didn't eat at the hotel. No scenic view, a brick wall.

Great spot to stay for my friends & myself when we come to the city for stage shows. We can get off the train at Central and drag or bags to the hotel, then when we want to go to Paddy's Markets or Entertainment Centre we can just walk out the back door and across the road. If we need a taxi, just walk out onto George St. In other words, it is a very convenient spot for us to stay, and I would highly recommend the Great Southern to my friends.

locale is good, walk distance to Train and eats. Room Small but clean, showers work well, bed too soft for comfort. Staff inattentive and do not take initiative - a little curt.
Overall, good budget hotel, do not expect service. Good for self service visitors who do not expect service or comfort but are just looking for central, budget accommodation.

Location near Paddy's Market, Market City, Central Train Station, walking distance to Darling Harbour, makes this hotel's location ideal. But rooms are small, furniture old and sparse.

this hotel is good for a couple stay,very good location for every thing,close to china town so to me this is good.this hotel is very clean,staff are good.The rate is not bad, breakfast is not bad but little bit dear shoud be bit cheaper,every thing else are good,if next time we go back to sydney we will came back stay in this hotel.

Close to central station, great as we used only public transport. Clean rooms, we used the hotel twice in 2 weeks the second time we got a suite amazingly spacious.

The position of the hotel was very convenient for restaurants, public transport and the airport.
The rooms were very comfortable and met all of our needs.

Location of hotel is great. Close to train station and market city, which is great for first time visitor to Sydney.
