We arrived having booked 2 rooms - both were meant to be king studio's... We found one of the rooms only had a small queen (looked more like a double)... when we asked at reception, they gave me a key to another room & told me to drop the other keys back later. We packed our stuff & relocated to our new room, only to find our new room had 2 single beds. When we rang reception their response was - "you cant expect us to know which room have king beds. why dont you come and get a few keys and have a look at a few vacant rooms & find one" ... my wifes response was "we are paying guests, you find us one... They eventuly found us a king room... I must say the pool & spa area was awesome & the little cafe down stairs does a great breakfast... Final warning - the elevators take ages, allow yourself an extra 10 mins (we ended up sneaking into the service elevator)

The Oaks Goldsbrough in Pyrmont St Sydney is a very good solid establishment. It is well equiped for families and business travellers, with a washing machine, dryer, and a kitcehneete complete with dishwasher - all you need to take care of yourself for a few days to a couple of weeks. The indoor pool and Foxtell will keep the kids happy, and you can even get fit in the gym. It is a bit pricy for ordinary families though.. probably better for older couples and business/conference travellers, unless you can get one of their online specials, which are very good value for money. Watch out when you book online though.. note that the money does not change hands until you check out so keep it aside on your credit card. Also, The Oaks takes $150 bond when you check in, to be refunded later - to make sure you dont steal the cutlery I guess - just remmeber to budget for it. The staff are very helpful and courteous at all times. There is no restaraunt; however, the cafe attacehd to the hotel on level 2 makes great very reasonably priced breakfasts to start your day and take-away sandwiches to put into your backpack to keep you going as you sightsee around Sydney. The venue is very close to the harbour and the convention centre, and about 15 minutes walk from UTS sydney, for conference visitors. I would go back there next time for a conference in Sydney, and would try to get one of the special deals to go there with family.

Great location, just a couple of minutes walk to Darling Harbour. One major complaint: we were on the 5th floor and right outside our window was the fly-over, if I opened the window, I could almost touch the cars. We hardly got any sleep all night because of the noise of the traffic, it was constant and very loud. The windows are not double glazed. I recommend bringing earplugs or make sure you get a room on one of the top levels. Windows, blinds and curtains were dirty. Apart from that, the rest of the apartment was clean. Preferred this style of accommodation rather than the hotel type where you have to sit on your bed to watch television. Laundry and bathroom are one room, but there was plenty of room. Shower is over the bath - it was clean. Large kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, stove, large fridge, plenty of cupboards. There is was a separate lounge room with large flat screen television. Great layout of apartment. Parking available directly opposite building, they will validate your parking ticket and it only costs $16 for 24hrs.

Fire alarm testing went on for several hours every single morning during the week of our 6 night stay. This was never mentioned by staff at reception, and proved to be quite disruptive to my 1 year old's naps. Cleaning was often not done til after 5pm, and not at all on several occasions when we went out for several hours and had asked reception that it be done before our return (due to above-mentioned 1yo and need for naps). Some days they left a note saying it couldn't be done at all as we had not allowed them in til after 2pm, yet other days they didn't come before 5pm anyway!

ALL staff were extremely helpful and always polite. Only concern we had was the access cards that were provided for our use. It was necessary most times to swipe the card several times to activate the lift/doors (excluding the door of our room). The location was excellent and suited our requirements perfectly.

My first trip to Sydney was a pleasant surprise. I was attending a conference and my daughter and sister came along for leisure. We rented a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment. We had no idea it would be on the 14th floor! The views of the harbour on one side and the city on the other were spectacular! We were also pleasantly surprised to find that the apartment came with a deck so you could walk out and get even better views of the city. Unfortunately, we came in the winter so it was a little chilly to stay out too long, but we appreciated it nevertheless. I enjoyed watching the sunrise over the harbor in the morning The kitchen was quite adequate; not spectacularly modern, but that is not necessarily our style. We were able to purchase food for breakfast and light lunches, which saved us quite a bit on our food bill. The apartment was pleasant enough that my daughter was quite content to stay there one day and read while resting an injured foot. Oh, did I mention it also had a washer and dryer? Everthing worked well and we could not have been more pleased. The staff was quite helpful, especially the first day we got there. We arrived several hours early and were allowed to store our luggage. Quite a few people were checking out and had late flights so also needed their luggage stored. They went to great lengths to find enough space to accommodate everyone and did it cheerfully and professionally. I would highly, highly recommend this place.

Our stay was to attend and compete in the South Pacific Ballroom Dancing Championships which were conducted at the Darling Harbour Exhibition and Convention Centre. The accommodation was perfect for us for a number of reasons not the least of which was the ability to walk to the convention centre without worry about the weather. We will be booking at your hotel for the competition next year and have passed on our thoughts on your accommodation and the competitive rates to a number of other Queensland competitors. The other benefit was the fully self contained kitchen which enabled us to save money on meals etc., Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond. Cliff and Donna Crawford.

I enjoyed my stay and will definatly be back next year when I return to Australia. The situation of the hotel is very good and convenient.

The appartements are very nice and the staff very good and helpful.

I dint use the resteraunts therefore I cant comment on them but perhaps I will next time.

Only comment - general lighting could be a bit stronger, particularly in the lunge/kitchen area - for reading.

We didn't like the lack of access between floors as we wanted to socialize with our friends on other floors

on arrival we had very poor service.Nothing was explained to us especially the use of the security keys.We got locked in the lift and could not enter our floor.With a handfull of luggage this was very distressing.Once we got to our room the lock was broken and we recquired a locksmith.We then had only one key.Also the hotel is difficult to find the entrance and then park the car to get to reception.Our first encounter was very stressful!Most staff were good but more help on arrival would have given a much better impression.

You appear to have too few lifts for the number of rooms being serviced. This was highlighted when one of the lifts broke down and guests were forced to wait up to 15 minutes for lift services.

The room was the size we anticipated. Everything we needed was there, and it ideally suited our purpose.

Great location. Facilities good. In had e mailed ahead with our time of arrival reieved no reply. after being up all night travelling we were still unable to access our room which was a bit disappointing as we had to trapse around Sydney without a shower and jet lagged - so I might have to think hard about using the apartments again in that respect. Initially when shown to our room , I was shocked! Although the amemtie were good ad the place was clean, in the room anyway. The sofa was threadbare with foam hanging out of it! We omplaine and wee given nother rently reburbished room, which was excellent. I did not think reception and interior space was very clean or welcoming.

every thing was good we only stayed a night so not much time to look around the hotel. it was very nice except there were alot of marks on the walls from where pictures had been hung. the rest of the decor was very nice and we were very lucky to get a room with a view, thank you

it was awesome, but what it made me abset is that, hotels they should be comfortable in it, but with that night when we were there, i would only make a little bit of noice then next door started to complain, but the thing is why bookin hotels if they want they own peace.....

Excellent location and great service, apartments are excellent in size, however, carpeting needs cleaning/update.

unfortunately, because of a family crisis in U.K. we had to return home almost immediately - staff were very helpful and kind. kitchen equipment was barely adaquate- bowls for mixing or holding food would be useful/ minimum numbers of plates etc does notallow catering for family and friends/ cups aswell as mugs would be appreciated.

It was disappointing to find that the spa (one of the reasons we decided on this accomodation) was again out of action. In spite of signs in the lifts stating that the closure would start the day AFTER we left, it was well and truly closed The upgrade to a two-bedroom apartment was appreciated

Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. We would stay here again and recommmend to others. Had everything we needed except a folder with instructions, rules, amenities - the one-page info sheet we received at check-in didn't have much info on it.(We also swapped to a one bedroom apt on check-in.)

We hadn't been awared that the check in was at 2.00 PM and waited for nearly 5 hours with our 2 years-old daughter.
