The Hotel is in a rather shabby part of Montreal but it is close to almost everything. Don't expect much from the hotel. Although the room and bathroom were clean the sheets had some wine stains and an unidentified brownish stain. All the staff in the hotel, with the exception of one young man, are rather brisk and unfriendly. The free breakfast consists of one croissant or a muffin and there is a person watching to make sure you don't take two. Also, parking is an additional fee and it's a bit of a walk from the hotel in the underground parking lot under the local library.

Great location (near Old Montreal, in front of the Bus Station, 2 blocks from good restaurants...), helpful staff and fair rates. The free internet inside the room works very well
The only thing we can say against is the breakfast. It´s not bad, but could be better.The last day, there wasn´t muffin like the others days before.
We would stay here again.

If you need a clean inexpensive place to stay...the Hotel Elegant is a good choice. It's fairly central...not exotic but I don't spend much time in a hotel room anyway. If I do intend to be in the hotel a lot I rent a suite with a kitchen to set up home. The ice service could be improved so that I could enjoy a cocktail while I get ready to go out...bit of a production to get some. Normally I would miss the air condition in the middle of a hot summer but a fan was set up and this was okay. However you may consider mounting the fan up on a wall, or something, so it is not in the way of traffic as the room is not large enough to accomodate the stand without tripping over it at some point. The front desk was curtious and did not let the fact that I spoke English, and very little French, get in the way of assisting us when he could. The Continental breakfast was fine...I don't expect much in this area when it comes with the room...but I do like cream in my coffee and this was not available. All in all it accomodated our needs for the one night. We left a wallet with papers and Mr Vino got back to us but none of the other staff can help...we are hoping all is secure and still trying to make arrangements. It has yet to be confirmed but we are happy they have found it.
