the food was so bad anyone can chop up veggies mince seafood pour cream over the top lamb was so overcooked but to tell the truth i was told before i stayed there rooms are fine but dont touch the food

It was perfect in the location but is it still standing because of the earthquake. Maybe there is a need for more staff in the restaurant.

Old looking exterior but fantastic interior. love the flat screen amd spacious room. close location to cathedral square and have bus stop right infront of hotel.

We were not aware that we had to pay $30 per night for our 14 year old until check out. We were not informed of this at time of booking. A small kitchen area would be an asset.

We arrived at 0100 and found a polite and welcoming desk clerk on duty who made it clear that nothing would be too much trouble. I marked facility as average because other than the excellent breakfasts, we did not make use of any others. After 20+ hours flying, it was a very welcome relief to find such a superbly appointed and comfortable room with good sized bathroom, sitting room and bedroom with an extremely comfortable Queen size bed.

We were so satisfied with our 3 day booking that we re-booked to spend another 3 days with you at the end of our first (not the last) visit to New Zealand. I would not fault the room. A few small stains on the carpet,which is probably unavoidable.

Couldn't bet the spectacluar snow storm on Sunday morning. The outside of the Hotel has a lovely feeling - but somewhat decieving once you enter your room. Hotel staff in bar and restaurant very pleasant and accomodating. No real interaction with staff. No one checked on us to see if we needed anything. Appreciated the morning newspaper. No new milk was delivered and it was long life. No trim milk was provided nor offered. We went out for coffee in the morning instead. Not recommended merely because of the standard of the room. Fundamentally there was nothing wrong with the room but we found it particualrly outdated and not at the standard we are used to staying in for a scenic circle hotel. We chose the Cotswood due to its Scenic Circle link and were unfortunately very dissappointed with the standard of the room. Requires major renovations to take it out of the seventies and into the 2000's. Perhaps we paid for a cheap room? But we usually get modern facilities for around 100 -150 per night, especially when booked so far in advance.

Considering the price we paid, we good much better value hotels in Queenstown and Dunedin. The motor-inn room was very old and the glass sliding door seemed to provide minimal security. The shower was small and cramped.

Just one comment - it was disappointing to have a number of coaches stopping outside our room to collect/drop off excited and loud passengers at all times of the night/morning. They left their engines running whilst loading, and their tricky manouvering around the courtyard was noisy too. Maybe at unsociable times they should be asked to drop off at the front of the motel?? Otherwise a very pleasant stay - thank you.

On our return to Christchurch we stayed at another venue for $95 a night which is self contained and far superior with modern facilities. After staying at the Cotswold, we did not bother to enquire at other scenic circle motels/hotels fearing the standard would not be good. Photos on the internet do not show the "real thing" as the rooms differ from the front appearance of the Hotel, e.g. our room was around the back and was an old brick unit, not an english tudor style. The room smelt awful. Needs upgrading for $120 a night. No wine glasses provided or bottle opener. I was referred to the bar from reception to get these. Not enough heating for a cold place. No electric blankets provided. Bed was not made properly the second day, covers were just pulled over and sheets not straightened. Shower cap was missing from package on arrival and not replaced on the second day.

I had a twin room with another adult and would have preferred to have had 2 double/queen beds in the room, and as the room was quite large they would have fitted in.

customer service was of a very poor standerd. the room was of an average standered. there were numerous stains on the floor, couch and bedding material. there was no air conditioning avaliable in the room.
