The advantage of the hotel location for tourists is that it is in walking distance of the free circular tram stop at Flagstaff, and also of the free Tourist Shuttle stop at the Queen Victoria Market. Using this transport, it is possible to see much of central Melbourne. It is also close to the bus and train stations in Spencer Street.

The disadvantage is that it is not a pretty area, and there are no gardens to sit in, although the Flagstaff Garden is very close by. There are no trees on the property. The courtyard could be improved by adding a lot more pot-plants, and growing vines, to make it a much greener place to sit. Also by making the floor surface more attractive.
