We had booked two rooms for two nights. However, the hotel was overbooked. First, we were told that our reservation had been cancelled, because we had not arrived before 4 pm. We could however show that it was indicated in the reservation that our estimated arrival time was 9 pm, so that our reservation should not have been cancelled. We then stayed for the first night in another hotel (a better hotel; at least the additional costs were paid by Best Western). On the next day, we moved to our originally booked rooms, which had a rather medium ambience, ok if one uses the room just for sleeping. One room had apparently been a smoking room before, which one could still smell.

Room was made up very late in the day (after 4:00 p.m.)for at least two of the days I was there.

The hotel does not have broadband which Best Western normally provide and that is why I booked it - said it had internet access on the web site.
The hotel is too far away from the centre of Cairns.
Although the address is the Esplanade there is no Best Western sign on the front of the hotel - it is at the back where the car park is situated. As a result I had some difficulty finding the hotel.

The room was a dirty and the hotel is run-down.

Staff very helpful and friendly. We only had breakfast in the hotel and this was very good and good value for money. Air conditioning unit was very noisy and could not be left on at night. Milk in fridge was not replenished when used. Towels in bathroom had holes in them. Room generally was looking a bit tired and could do with decorating, i.e. carpet was stained in places.

Fantastic views from our balcony. I noticed an ant infestation in the room and so I had to be careful where I placed any food/drink/belongings.

The Tour Desk/Tour Advisor was truley excellent. With only 3 days at the end of our holiday, bookings for the correct trips were essential. We were booked onto the ideal trips with a lot of great help and advice.

cleaning staff threw out pyjamas without checking linen that was taken to be laundered. not found:(

Fading of room due to age was compensated by the great view
