The room condition is horrible but decent room size. The wallpapers are all stained. The bed sheets and bed cover also have yellowish stains, blood prints and other stains too. The bathtub water was leaking and the body soap was very diluted. Bathtube was choke during shower. The toilet bow flush is weak, not strong and need to flush more than 2 times. The maroon chair inside room looks comfortable but was so dusty and even got a smoke burnt hole on it. It really look more like a 3 star standard and below to me. Pricey because my room rate did not include breakfast. Disappointed... A recommendation will be to improve in the room.

Location is good as you can find nice food within the hotel vicinity. Room rate is quite reasonable and staff were very courteous and polite. Whenever my family are in Penang we stay in this hotel.

1. Well-sited within Georgetown. Free shuttle bus (PPP) just opposite hotel entrance that runs frequently around historic and commercial district. 2. Bus shuttle to/from airport. Upon arrival, go up one floor to departure hall level to catch Bus 401E that brings you direct to Komtar shopping mall in downtown (under RM2.70 instead of RM50 taxi fare). 3. Cititel Hotel does NOT provide small face and hand towels in the Standard Room (only huge bath towels). That was churlish, I thought. But if you ask for it, they will provide. 4. Good breakfast buffet which Cititel thoughtfully varies each day - so you don't end up eating the same stuff during your entire stay.

My husband and I stayed at the Cititel to attend a reunion in Penang. We were fortunate to be upgraded to a Pinnacle room due to the large numbers staying at the hotel in sporting groups.
The room was very clean and the entire hotel was well maintained but, despite being a better room, we still found it rather small in comparison to other hotels in which we've stayed.
Breakfast (included) was plentiful, tasty and well presented and the staff coped well with the busy times they experienced with the sporting groups.
My only real problem with the hotel was the swimming pool. Unfortunately, it is under cover. Consequently, it was very hot and steamy and not conducive to lolling about reading next to, or even swimming in. If that is of no interest to fellow travellers then I would recommend this hotel for a stay in the heart of Penang.

Room card needed to operate lift. Card did not work at first. Subsequently, card worked intermittently. This is a ridiculous system and the instructions are only in English. Bathroom lighting poor.

not lovely service Bed not long enough

The rooms we booked were superior but I find the rooms were small. I did enquire the reservation but they mentioned only coorner one is big but not available! I booked quite a while they should know!
