My wife and I started our 6 days in New Zealand via Christchurch and booked a room at Chateau on the Park.That was the best hotel we had during our stay.We kept comparing the room we had in the other cities (Twizel (total disaster) Queenstown, Te Anau and Dunedin (never again) to Chateau on the Park. Coming from Australia we expected free wireless everywhere in NZ but only Chateau on the Park offered free wireless.We had dinner (early bird) and the food was beautiful, we will definitely stay again at Chateau on the Park on our next visit.

A fantastic setting and superb value for money.I was disappointed that the 2 rooms I had booked had not been allocated before arrival. We were therefore on different floor levels. I had to request the slippers and dressing gowns.There was also confusion about breakfast which was readily sorted by reception staff. The room had a musty smell when you entered although it was clean and well cared for. Perhaps some modernisation of the bathrooms is required and certainly the "Den" bar was outdated and dusty on the upper ledges. Overall the service was excellent and the meals were very good. The shuttle bus was a big help and the drivers very helpful.

A very nice hotel with a great location, with a gorgeous garden and lovely staff very courteous.
Also, very good restaurant and prices correct.
If we'd come again to Christhchurch for leisure or business no doubt about staying at the Chateau On The Park Hotel.

We found the location excellant, near the park and a short walking distance to city centre. Love the building itself and the beautiful gardens, really like the feel of the place. Would however have appreciated a firmer more comfortable bed. Would stay again in upgrade.

When we arrived at the hotel, we were told of a $50 upgrade special which gave us a better room, breakfast and bottomless tea and coffee. We took advantage of this good offer. However we would liked to of known about the offer beforehand.
As far as the hotel goes, it is a little out of town but in a beautiful location adjacent to Hagley Park. A shuttlebus to the City is provide free.
We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Good comfortable clean hotel.Great location for my businees and other needs. Great restaurant. Wonderful yard and gardens.

I would like to say the staff were very very helpful, the porters were great when we need directions to some of the places we visited. Location was great lovely walk across Hagley park to the city would recommend Chateau on the Park we had a great stay.

Staff were courteous. There was some mix up in the type of room allocated, but was quickly remedied.

The room service was generally good, though on our second stay, the room was not ready for us, and was not properly cleaned and restocked each day.

We did not use the restaurant except to have meals delivered to our room. They were of a very high standard.

Overall I would recommend this hotel for its comfort and convenience to town

Hi, overnighted in Chch, stayed at Chateau, loved it. All good.
But, we were charged for mini-bar, which we didn't use.
sent them an e-mail on receipt of invoice, one week ago, still no reply! Frustrating!

Staff were not warm and friendly. We did not get a smile or warm welcome on arrival.

Our room was small. There were 4 of us and we only had towels, bathroom accessories, cups etc for 3.

We did not have a mini bar. We had an empty fridge - not even milk for a cup of tea.

On departure we got the same lack of consideration. We had our bags and were going to the airport. We were not asked if we enjoyed our stay. We were not asked if we needed a cab. In fact the reception person (female) didn't even have the courtesy of saying goodbye.

Lesson for Chateau on the Park - don't treat tourists as no-bodies. I am an excecutive who travels extensively for business. I work for a group who owns New Zealand's largest insurance company. My recommendation for my fellow Kiwi colleagues is not to stay at you hotel based on our experience.

The Breakfast was excellent apart from the Bacon was steamy and not as it should be served CRISPY.

Quiet and comfortable accommodation. Very satisfied

Hotel restaurant not fantastic food quality but hotel impressive with lovely rose gardens. Room nice and got little gifts, lots of toiletries etc. Room quite nice but bathroom looking dated.
