The historic building was beautiful and the lobby areas were comfortable and welcoming. Steps at the front of the building weren't helpful as you had to carrying a heavy suitcase up two sets. Front desk staff were mostly very helpful. The older gentlemen were very helpful and courteous. The menu was limited in choice but what I had was well cooked. Breakfast was very limited but OK-ish, croissants were rather dry and burnt on one day but a good selection of fruit and cereal, fresh juices and tea/coffee. Bar staff I spoke to had no knowledge of wines which is rather poor for this type of hotel and for a country with such a huge wine industry! Rooms are comfortable but rather dated and both the room and the corridors smelt rather musty. The carpet appeared a little grubby. The bathroom was very dated, small and rather tired, for example, the sink taps didn't have hot or cold discs on them and the room looked rather shabby. The sink was very small. It also didn't look particularly clean but this may have been due to discoloured grouting - I felt that it needed a good bleaching! Great location however. 3/5

there was a mix up with our room arrangements we asked for an extra bed for our son pre arriving toilet was not working tiny room staff said it would be fixed arriving back later toilet not fixed and no extra bed after speaking with staff about this we were given another room 3 beds very comfortable overall we were happy with our stay location is great and the atmosphere was warm

This hotel is great value if you need location location location and comfort. The service was fine and the atmosphere was comforting and secure. I would recommend the hotel to anyone wanting to be right in the middle of town, but who isn't concerned about views.

On arrival we were greeted by a very professional female member of staff and checked in. We then parked our vehicle in the secure parking at the Hilton which is a great option. We returned to the hotel to go to our room and noticed there were only 2 towels, however our 6 year old granddaughter was staying with us. A staff member was making up the room just down from us and it was no trouble to get an extra towel. The motel is convenient to the centre of Sydney and the mono rail is just in the next street to take travellers to any destination on its circuit. This is our third stay in this motel and we have always been treated professionsally and received excellent service. I have already recommended the Castlereagh Inn to other friends who were looking for accomodation in Sydney centre. Thank you for looking after us once again. Best Regards Louise Bowden

Hotel was in a great location for a weekend in Sydney.
Staff where friendly on the front desk.
It is unfortunate that there is no onsite parking.
Room size was a bit on the small size for three people there where only two bath towels when the room was booked for three.
Lounge food, prices and service was execellent.
Would only really recommend a one night stay in the type of room we had.It wasn't to bad for last minute accommodation. If I couldn't find other accomoation I would maybe stay there again.

Enjoyed my stay

Location was great - walked to everything. No view from room - window frosted; not a hotel you would 'hang out' in. Bar allowed smoking ,although that will end in July.

No broadband in rooms, breakfast poor No natural light, cold and uncontrolable air con, good shower although it leaked.

Parking was a big issue and inconvenient that there was no parking at the hotel. Room colours/decor quite dark/dull.

The location is excellent. The range of food in the continental breakfast provided is excellent. A toaster in the room would be useful. Lighting was very dim. No hooks or other provision in bathroom for clothes. Having the fridge totally enclosed resulted in a hot storage area in the cupboard. And, of course its not practical, but a view from the window would be nice!

Quite noisy. The wall were very thin. Could hear activity in the corrider early in the morning and could hear conversations in rooms from outside.

Glad we chose to go there. Would use again Disappointed that air conditioning control had no effect on reducing room temperature from approx 25 C

Parking was a long way from the Hotel. No real assistance or interest from staff when parked outside in non parking spot.No help with luggage to facilitate the need for bringing lugage in speedily. This is the only reason I would not recomend it totaly.
