Being at the south side of the city is an advantage, as it's quite near to Calgary International Airport, only a 20 minutes drive away. Apart from that, you can visit the Fish Creek Park, which is quite near too, and so is the Pengrowth Saddledome. IF you love science shows and exhibitions, then the Telus World of Science is definitely 'the' place to visit.
Macleod Trail – South – The Macleod Trail – South is where the major arterial road, Macleod Trail exits Calgary, via southern exit, joining Highway 2 en route to Okotoks, Fort Macleod and Lethbridge. Located roughly twenty kilometres from Macleod Trail – North, this area has many more attractions since this is one of the major exits from Calgary. Just nearing the area, you'll find m65ytany shopping complexes in Anderson Road, Fraser Drive and more but when it comes to shopping, you must not miss the Southcentre Mall. Albeit two storeys, but the mall is one of the largest shopping mall in terms of area covered in entire Calgary with about 190 stores and services. Some of the anchor shops here are the departmental store giants, The Bay and Sears.
Just right after Southcentre Mall, you'll find Avenida Bonavista Shopping mall just a few minutes drive away. Unlike the busy Southcentre Mall, Avenida is more subtle, catered for local residents with plenty of exclusive local outlets. Avenida also has eye catching landscapes and fountains, giving the mall an uptown feeling and make it an enjoyable place to spend the day. If you feel like having a break before rushing to your next stop, Avenida is the right place to stop over.
Vacationing families will find the Telus World of Science, located not far from Southcentre Mall, a worth while visit as the museum has plenty of discovery activities especially for juniors. The museum also has a dome theatre playing large-format movies daily and, simulations of night sky for astronomic study purposes. Or, go on for a mini adventure in Amazement park just outside the museum, an interactive science amusement park for kids and adults.
