I like the hotel size and the ambience to which the hotel is situated.
The areas of improvement I could recommend that could further enhance guests' pleasant experience are :

a. transport - for guests to move around with ease, if the hotel can provide advice and guidance available on this will be very beneficial to the guests.

b. kitchen facilities - we noticed there is no instruction on use of kitchen facilities such as oven. Some features were not working and we were not familiar how to make it work.

c. telephone connection to customer service desk - having this available will help us to reach the support for services if needed. We were concerned should something happened, we still need to run across the road to reach the customer service office.

On the whole, it was a good and pleasant place to stay and would like to thank the customer service staff for their professionalism as well.

Accommodation was excellent. location excellent, central to our destinations, proximity to trams/trains very handy, area quiet,and pleasant. Very pleased with facilities, and staff were polite and helpful. hihly recommended

The Birches was an excellent location for the city and the reception staff were very helpful as we had never visited Melbourne before.The cleanliness of the rooms was excellent and the cleaning staff very pleasant and helpful. We had a very quick response to our lack of hot water and it was resolved immediately.Generally it was a very pleasant environment to feel at home in. I would certainly recommend it and return myself if needed.

The Staff is courteous and gives me useful information about my travelling.
