Reviewer: SOON ONN LEE Date of review: 5 August 2009 Recommends this hotel: Neutral Recommended for: Leisure, Romance, Couples Room Hotel Facilities 3 Bed 5 Ambience 3 Cleanliness 5 Service 5 Room Size 5 Location 5 Amenities 3 Value for Money 4 Good restaurants but poor menu selections.Limited Thai food with very disappointing food-especially the tom yum kung.Supposed to taste spicy and sour but alas it was SWEET!!!! and not HOT.Also the same goes to the Japanese selection-Nothing to select at all.Perhaps a Japanese Restaurant should open instead.More can be done to improve the Menu selection of ALL the restaurants. The room I had was excellent except for the door locks that needed realignment.Housekeepers should change the water daily from the spa/jaccuzi pool.Mine was not scrubbed and the water smells.Lots of birds droppings found around the back area-pool and out-door bench.Suggest provision of a broom for the guest. Credit should be given to your excellent staff who's always has a smile on their face.Greets everyone at all times without fail.Overall-there's room for improvement.Will try BANYAN TREE-PHUKET next.

However you get your very own villa, set in beautifully tended gardens overlooking the sea and are waited on hand and foot by the extremely helpful and courteous staff. Excellent food and wine complete the picture and it's only ten minutes from the ferry terminal (where you get priority treatment). My only minor gripe is that I was on my own (as I frequently am when on holiday) and was constantly quizzed as to where my wife was (I'm happily divorced). I realise that this is as much an Asian cultural thing as it is to do with the fact that the resort is geared up for 'romantic' couples, but it did get rather tiresome. But I hope to be back soon - if they'll have me!

One of world's exceptional resort hotels Reviewer: Rob Cowle Date of review: 29 August 2007 Recommends this hotel: YES Recommended for: Leisure Room Hotel Facilities 5 Bed 3 Ambience 5 Cleanliness 4 Service 5 Room Size 5 Location 5 Amenities 5 Value for Money 3 Right from when we stepped off the ferry from Singapore the renowned Bayan Tree service began - we were met by our "Villa Host" who whisked us past the notorious Indonesia immigation queues and we're in the air-conditioned Banyan Tree car within a couple of minutes. On arrival we were taken straight to our villa for check-in, no reception queues here. A few minutes later we were swimming in our provate pool while the "host" unpacked our cases, ironed our clothes and poured us champagne. He arranged the complimentray massages to our convenience, made the dinner reservations and disappeared. He left us a mobile phone to call him directly if we needed anything. 5 minutes before our dinner reservation time he picked us up and drove to the restaurant and was waiting to take us back to the villa when we finished. While we were at dinner he returned to the villa to freshen the room and have it ready and turned down. The following day was just as exceptional right to being ushered past immigration again on leaving and being given a VIP room while we waited to board the ferry ahead of everyone else. Superb isn't enough of a word to describe it.

Although the facilities are limited, it is a great place to relax and unwind. Beautiful rooms and wel looked after. Only drawback was the bats that congregated in the eaves of the villa and made sitting out on the deck in the evening less pleasant. Netting would help sove this.
