Being a favourite tourist destination especially on bird migration season and the Australian Grand Prix, it would be wise to place an early booking to ensure availability of rooms to avoid disappointments.
Albert Park - A 225 hectares green park surrounding a huge lake, Albert Park has become a favourite tour destination especially for nature lovers. The Australian government, realising the need to preserve the park has taken numerous steps to ensure the continuity of the park such as migratory birds study, conducting frequent flora and fauna specimen inventory, aquatic study and also promoting the park as venue for Australian Grand Prix, which was previously held in Adelaide Street Circuit.
Apart from hundreds of flora and exotic species such as the marbled gecko which has made the park its home, the park also has become breeding home for plenty of migratory birds such as Cattle Egret, Common Tern, Eastern Curlew, Great Egret and Pomarine Jaeger, White-throated Needletail and Sacred Ibis.
Having traces of Aboriginal history, this magnificent park enjoys approximately five million visitors annually. One notable vestige of the Aboriginal times would be the large ancient River Red Gum Tree, also known as the Corroboree Tree. Rumoured to be more over 300 years old and the oldest tree in the Port Phillip area, the tree is a heritage registered eucalypt of cultural significance as a pre-European gathering place.
