the hotel was good as it served our purpose. I did not realise that the rooms were so small and that there would not be a larger room. All we could look out of was a very small window that could fit one person. The beds were not made every day and the covers were simply pulled over the beds each morning. I had to ask them to make the beds. The carpet in the lift was my first impression and put me off. I am sure that a small piece of carpeting could not cost too much and would do wonders - also lets clean inside the lift every now and then. The staff was helpful and friendly at all times. I am not used to staying in hotels and expected a bit more however in saying that I would recommend the hotel to others for an over nighter (we stayed a week).

Daytime Reception helpful, after office hours slow and lack empathy. Entry area cheerful but grubby Thai Restaurant sign. Too few power plugs, one dead bed bulb,
no window-lock. Good booking help and emails. Tatty carpet in lift. Might come again because near ferries,
central and economy. Thanks.

Room heat only serviced by fan heater. Bed comfortable but could use more blankets in July. Good night's sleep in the quiet side of the motel.

We found the location great because my daughter and I took my two young grandaughters to High School Musical on ice at Victor Arena which is about two minutes walk away. We found the staff very courteous and helpful.
The only downside of our stay was about 9.30 pm, the restaurant next door had a band start up right outside our window and we couldnt even hear the tv, let alone sleep. I went down to reception about 10pm, to complain about the noise and the manager was very helpful and gave us two quiet rooms on the other side of the hotel for which we were very grateful. We had a budget room to start off with which needed redecorating and was quite shabby (but was clean), it had no spare blankets, or electric blanket (only had one summer weight duvet on the bed) though there was a heater and it was a cold night.
When we were given the two new rooms, they were much nicer, and had extra blankets.
I would stay there again for the convenience of the locality mainly.

Great value.

The stay at this hotel was beyond any of my expectations. The staff were courteous and helpful and the convenient location made it ideal for a pair of sightseers. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The cafe on the ground level was an absolute delight, lovely fresh food and very reasonable prices. The only small compaint was that when the window of the room was open there was a smell of mould from outside. Over all I can say that it was great value for money.

Hi,

I stayed in the Arena Hotel from the 13th to 20th April 2008. I'm from South Africa and visitted the City on my own.I found the lady at reception very helpful. The Hotel is within walking distance from the city center and the location assisted me in getting from one are to the next, without much effort.
I used the internet facilities at the Hotel, and was under the impression from the website that this offer was free? I also used the laundry which could do with an additional washer and dryer, as I found the unit occupied a few times before I was able to get use of this facility.

The facilities are practical and served my needs well.

Regards,
L Schoeman
