The hotel accommodated our early morning arrival so that we could check in early to recover from a long plane flight. The desk staff were very friendly and helpful with information regarding Sydney. The location, immediately adjacent to a shopping mall and 5 minutes or less from the many attractions, sights and restaurants that Darling Harbor has to offer, was outstanding. Our 2 bedroom unit had everything that my family needed. It's not for the extremely budget-conscious, but was good value and a wonderful base for us and helped us make the most of our limited time in Sydney.

The apartment was very comfortable and was a good size. Staff were courteous and very helpfu. In particular, the hotel's location was ideal. An easy walk to the city centre, it was located at one end of Darling Harbour. Overall, our family would stay at this hotel again for a few nights, paying extra for its convenient location.

Great place but Bad weekend to be in Sydney Reviewer: miranda kelly Date of review: 11 October 2007 Recommends this hotel: YES Recommended for: Families Room Hotel Facilities 4 Bed 4 Ambience 1 Cleanliness 5 Service 3 Room Size 5 Location 5 Amenities 4 Value for Money 4 We have stayed here before and loved it - we had a great stay this time despite a few things - it was the Rugby League grand final weekend and the hotel was crammed with drunk men on a footy trip/drinking weekend - half the lifts were broken down and it took literally hours to check in and get into our room(with two young children and we had flown from Nth Qld) We couldn't move around the hotel without being crammed into corners by drunk blokes - therefore we had to spend heaps more on the mini bar than we normally would and the kids couldn't go up to the pool area - the lifts were out of service til Saturday evening - the poor staff were at their wits end and were not at all supported by senior hotel (Accor) management. The view is fantastic and once we managed to get in a lift and outside everytime we wanted to leave the hotel - we had a great time Stay - but just not on a busy weekend like this one.

Only critisium would be that it was not made clear that the PS2 games were charged and my son ran up a fair bill before we realised. The apartment was fantastic with everything you could want for a family. This set our standards for other apartments during our month in Australia - none matched that initial wow factor of the Grand Mecure and its location. We should have paid the extra for a harbour view which would have added a double wow.
