The hotel was ideally situated for us as we left early the next morning to catch the TransScenic train from Wellington to Auckland. The hotel room was well provided for with amenities our one night stay and was very comfortable.

This Hotel was excellent for location to the bus and train terminal and transport to the ferry just a 2 minute walk, when actually arriving at the motel was a bit confused at it was after hours by the time the train got in and it was a Sunday night, the main office was closed but after we rang a few numbers on the door a very polite young man came to our rescue and showed us how to get our key and directions to our room, enjoyable stay comfortable enough, rooms are very small though but has all the amenties at hand and is very clean, would gladly reccomend to others.

My husband and I had a very good experience at Aitken on Mulgrave, thanks to the cleanliness of the rooms, convenience of the location, free wireless internet, value for the money, and helpfulness and friendliness of the staff.

The hotel is located right at the beginning of Lambton Quay and just two blocks from the train station, so it is very easy to take buses anywhere and to give directions to taxis. It is also close to many restaurants, stores, and some tourist attractions (Old St. Paul's, Wellington Cathedral, the Beehive, etc.).

The staff was VERY helpful! The airline lost our bags and the manager (Medhi?) and the receptionist (Rosa) were VERY helpful in dealing with the airline with us, solving a problem with the washing machine (see below) and giving us advice about Wellington and NZ. One inconvenience about the staff is that, due to the hotel's nature as furnished suites targeted to business people, there is no 24-hour concierge on premises (although there is a 24-hour phone service), which makes it complicated if you arrive or have problems after the front desk has closed (i.e. at night).

The room was a good enough size, even if not not very big, and was well lit and warm (in the winter). The amenities in the room were clean (and the staff washes your dishes for you) and there is most anything you'd need, including iron and kettle. We only had 2 problems:
- There was radio but no DVD or CD player (but there was a tape deck and a VHS player!).
- We had problems working the washing machine: one time it was unplugged and we had to figure out by ourselves that it had to be plugged inside a cabinet, underneath the garbage disposal; a second time the water did not drain from the machine so we had to wait until a technician arrived the next day (although the staff did try to get him there sooner).

So the only problems we had were not having after-hours staff on premise and the problems with the washing machine, but even those are more inconveniences than problems. I would recommend this hotel and will be staying there again when I return to Wellington.

My partner & I only stayed the one night. The staff were really helpful. We checked in early & they were great about it. The rooms were a good sides, you didnt feel as though you were boxed in. Good value for money.

Marcia, the receptionist, was just fantastic and very helpful.

Excellent suite accommodation reasonably priced and near the railway station/city centre.

I requested a non-smoking room, but was booked into a smoking floor.Staff changed this for me on arrival. But very frustrating that not done at time of booking.

Danny was lovely and very helpful. Maybe invest in posturepedic bedding.

We loved the place! I find the room very comfortable and convenient with the available kitchenette.

Could have done without the extra single bed in the room. This was not required as we are a married couple. Having the extra bed made a small room too small.

Service from guys at front desk very helpful and pleasant

You cannot use the bedside lamps because they smell (give off fumes) when they heat up. The plastic seems close to melting!

Glad we did not have a car, but it was close to bus/train and easy walk to city shops/offices. Need dishwashing powder for dishwasher...but they came daily to wash dishes. Likewise needed instruction Manula for clothes washer/dryer.

Friendly and very co-operative staff. Excellent location to everything. Everything one could need in a room. Excellent value

Appeared disorganised.No clean towels available,room not available at check in time. probably fine for one night business stay for one person.Cramped for a leisure weekend for 2.
